However, when the Secret Service agents saw the scene inside the room,
everyone froze on the spot as if struck by a paralysis spell.
After all, tales of Angels were practically household knowledge in America, deeply rooted in people's hearts.
Countless people believed the Creator truly existed, and devout believers were even more numerous.
Even in American presidential elections, candidates went to great lengths every time to win the support of those religious districts. Their influence was obvious.
For a moment, the scene fell into a deathly silence.
Lu Xi did not dare make any rash moves either, afraid that any unnecessary action might provoke these people, who were treating him as a grave threat.
After all, more than a dozen pitch-black gun barrels were aimed at him. Having been an ordinary person just half an hour ago, he could not help feeling nervous.
Just as the tense atmosphere was about to solidify, a set of steady footsteps came from outside the door, breaking the silence.
A middle-aged man in a suit walked in with calm, measured steps.
His gaze fell upon Lu Xi's exaggerated appearance, and his expression changed instantly. Surprise, curiosity, and awe flashed through his eyes.
However, as an experienced agent, he quickly composed himself.
A perfectly measured smile appeared on the man's face as he said politely,
"Hello, sir. I'm Agent Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division."
He paused slightly before continuing,
"May I ask what brings you here?"
The corner of Lu Xi's eye twitched as he looked at the suited man before him, with that iconic bald head and trademark fake smile.
Combined with the agency name he had announced, one so long that no one would want to say it a second time...
Lu Xi was almost completely certain that this was Coulson—Coulson from the Marvel Universe.
After thinking for a moment, Lu Xi answered,
"What if I said I just got lost? Would you believe me?"
Coulson smiled and said,
"Of course. If you're lost, why don't you come to our base for a chat? We can see how we might help you. What do you say?"
He paused, then added,
"After all, your appearance is rather likely to frighten ordinary people, wouldn't you say?"
Lu Xi swiftly weighed the pros and cons. S.H.I.E.L.D. had plenty of problems, but its authority was certainly broad enough.
Besides, now that he had entered their field of view, it would probably be difficult to evade their surveillance with his current conspicuous appearance.
It would be better to speak with them openly first, assess the situation, and respond accordingly.
So Lu Xi nodded and agreed.
"Sure. Please help me find a pair of pants first."
Coulson subconsciously glanced at the bedsheet, beneath which a sizeable outline could vaguely be seen. "Uh... n-no problem."
He immediately looked away and turned toward Daisy beside him, maintaining his polite manner.
"Miss Lewis, please come along as well to make a statement. It will help us gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation."
Daisy's eyes shone with excitement. She was immensely interested in getting involved in such a fantastical incident.
Soon, the two of them were escorted into separate vehicles.
Lu Xi headed toward the black SUV, but his wings were simply too enormous and took up far too much space, making it quite difficult even to get inside.
Fortunately, the vehicle's interior was spacious enough. Otherwise, he probably would not have been able to squeeze in no matter how hard he tried.
In the other vehicle, Daisy chirped nonstop like a delighted little bird.
The words spilling from her mouth were all things like "Lucifer" and "King of Hell," her excitement impossible to hide.
Meanwhile, at the top floor of the technologically advanced Stark Tower,
Tony Stark stared at the screen with a deep frown.
Displayed on it was a photograph taken by a Stark Industries satellite: a six-winged Angel soaring freely through the clouds, leaving an extremely conspicuous sonic boom trail behind him.
Tony muttered in disbelief,
"Damn it. Do things from myths and legends really exist in this world?"
Clearly, Stark Industries was not the only one whose satellites had captured the scene.
At that moment, undercurrents were stirring among all the major forces as they mobilized their resources to investigate.
Meanwhile, in another dark corner of New York City, shadows seemed to churn under some unseen force within a narrow alleyway.
An elderly man who appeared to be an elegant gentleman slowly emerged from the shadows.
He wore an exquisite tailcoat and held a scepter that radiated a mysterious aura.
He was Mephisto, one of the lords of the Hell Dimension, an old Demon King famed for his cunning and skill at making deals.
Among the many Demon Kings, his strength also ranked near the very top.
Mephisto strolled leisurely until he arrived before a somewhat dilapidated house.
The owner of the house was Johnny Blaze, who had been tricked by him into signing a contract years ago and becoming Ghost Rider.
This had originally been merely an idle move in Mephisto's scheme, but now he felt it was time to put this piece into play.
His target was his arrogant, useless son—Blackheart.
Just as Mephisto raised his foot to step inside,
his movements suddenly halted, as though he had sensed something utterly unbelievable.
He slowly turned his head, looking in a certain direction with disbelief written across his face.
"Lucifer? How is that possible?!"
Unable to trust his own senses, he focused and sensed again. Only then did he confirm that he was not hallucinating.
Mephisto looked at Johnny's figure visible through the window, his thoughts racing.
His original plan had been to make Johnny and Blackheart fight each other, thereby drawing the attention of Earth's guardian, the Ancient One.
This would create an opportunity for his true body to descend upon Earth.
But after sensing an aura that seemed to belong to Lucifer, he immediately changed his plans.
Mephisto slammed the tip of his scepter heavily against the ground.
In an instant, light flickered across the ground as a complex and mysterious magic circle emerged.
Blackheart, who was hundreds of miles away, along with his capable subordinates Wind Demon, Earth Demon, and Water Demon, were instantly summoned by the powerful force radiating from the magic circle.
The moment Blackheart appeared and saw that his father had summoned him, he was briefly stunned.
Then, a disdainful expression appeared on his face.
"Father, I didn't expect you to have a trick like this, but don't waste your effort. Your era ended long ago!"
"Once I bring the Hell Dimension down upon Earth, I'll become the new king of Mephisto's Hell. No... by then, it'll be Blackheart's Hell! You can't stop me!"
Blackheart was brimming with confidence. In his view, Earth had no powerful beings capable of threatening him.
And his father, this Demon King, was merely a projection here at the moment, incapable of posing any substantial threat to him.
Hearing his son's arrogant words, Mephisto's face turned black with anger, and the embarrassment was so intense his toes nearly dug out a three-bedroom apartment.
Since the plan had changed, he could no longer be bothered to keep putting on an act with Blackheart.
With another wave of his scepter, several black chains instantly appeared in the void. Like savage black pythons, they lunged toward Blackheart and his subordinates.
The chains instantly wrapped around Blackheart and the others, binding them tightly in midair.
Then, the chains began to radiate a power that corroded souls.
Crackling sounds rang out without end as Blackheart and his subordinates screamed in agony.
Blackheart was shocked and in pain as he roared,
"That's impossible! You're clearly just a projection! How can you still possess this kind of power?!"
Mephisto snorted coldly, his eyes filled with disdain.
"Give you an inch and you take a mile. Even a Demon King's projection is still a Demon King. Do you really take me for some noob?"
