Facing Coulson's order to evacuate, Lu Xi shook his head.

He could clearly sense that this group of demons had come for him.

If he evacuated with everyone else, he would undoubtedly be putting everyone in the base in mortal danger.

But that was not the most crucial part.

More importantly, as Ghost Rider and the demons drew closer, a vague sensation arose within him.

It was as though, in his eyes, these beings existed on a far lower level of life than he did.

The feeling was like a human facing a little kitten that bared its claws and teeth.

No matter how fiercely the kitten bristled and threatened, the human knew perfectly well that it could not hurt them at all.

A sudden flash of insight struck Lu Xi, as though some dormant instinct had been awakened.

His gaze locked onto Wind Demon, who was wreaking havoc, and he instinctively raised a finger, pointing it at the demon.

In an instant, a dazzling, nearly tangible pillar of energy burst from his fingertip, carrying a sacred aura.

Like a bolt of lightning, the beam instantly shattered the enormous floor-to-ceiling window, sending glass fragments scattering like snowflakes.

By the time the beam reached him, Wind Demon did not even have time to dodge.

Before he could even scream, the terrifying beam pulverized him into dust, leaving nothing behind.

The beam continued onward without losing momentum, piercing straight through the ground and boring a deep, slanted hole into the hard earth, its bottom nowhere in sight.

Coulson stared at the scene in utter disbelief.

His mouth hung wide open, his eyes filled with shock.

"Th-that's it? He's dead?"

He had seen it clearly just moments ago. That demon had been like a hurricane; every shot fired by the tactical team had passed right through him.

Even attacks such as flamethrowers had been blown away by the hurricane.

Such a troublesome enemy had actually been instantly killed by this Lucifer so easily.

Ghost Rider, Blackheart, and the other demons were just as frightened.

After the initial shock, they could barely breathe, as though life and death hung by a thread.

Mephisto had forced them to probe this man, but he had never told them that their target would be such a terrifying, despair-inducing existence.

Seeing the effect of his attack, delight appeared on Lu Xi's face.

This completely confirmed that the vague sensation he had felt earlier was no illusion.

To him, the demons before him really were as fragile as ants.

At the sight, Blackheart, Earth Demon, and Water Demon immediately turned and tried to flee.

Yet the instant they turned around, a hazy cloud of black mist abruptly rose from their bodies.

Their movements became mechanical and stiff as they slowly turned back around, charging toward the base without regard for anything else.

It seemed these demons had been forcibly controlled by some mysterious power.

Lu Xi remained calm. He raised his finger again, shaped it like a gun, and aimed it at Blackheart and the other two.

"Biu~ biubiu~"

This time, he controlled his strength and produced only three soft sounds.

Three energy bullets whistled from his fingertips, shooting toward the three demons like lightning.

With three dull booms, Blackheart, Earth Demon, and Water Demon were instantly blasted into ash and vanished without a trace.

Lu Xi then turned his gaze to the sole survivor, Ghost Rider, who was still charging madly toward him.

He remembered that this guy was fundamentally a good person. He was probably only being forcibly controlled now.

At that moment, an eerie layer of black mist lingered around Ghost Rider's body, clearly a sign that he too was under control.

So Lu Xi did not strike to kill. Instead, he experimentally pressed down his palm toward the other man, as though pushing an invisible button in the air.

In an instant, an invisible ripple swept toward Ghost Rider like a tidal wave.

The black mist around Ghost Rider was instantly jolted out of his body by the ripple.

Freed at last, he hurriedly hit the brakes, threw both hands high into the air, and shouted, "I surrender! I was forced to come here!"

Lu Xi ignored Ghost Rider and instead stared intently at the black mist.

The mist slowly drifted toward a tree not far away, then vanished as though swallowed by darkness.

To ordinary people, that spot was merely an unremarkable corner overgrown with weeds.

But through Lu Xi's special eyes, an old man in a tailcoat was clearly standing there in silence. The black mist had returned to him.

The familiar appearance immediately brought a name to Lu Xi's mind.

He tested the waters. "Mephisto?"

Since Mephisto had already been discovered, he simply stopped hiding and revealed himself.

A complicated gleam flickered in his eyes as he said with both shock and delight, "Lucifer, it really is you!"

Then, unable to wait any longer, he fired off question after question.

"You've never had an avatar on Earth, have you? How did you sneak in? Where is Ancient One? Why isn't she stopping you?"

Lu Xi's gaze immediately sharpened.

An ordinary person like Daisy Lewis mistaking him for Lucifer was understandable.

But for a demon king like Mephisto to mistake Lucifer, another lord of Hell, for someone else was almost impossible.

Lu Xi guessed that he might... truly have some connection to Lucifer.

His thoughts raced. Spreading his hands, he said mysteriously, "You tell me."

A vicious glint flashed through Mephisto's eyes. Then, as though he had thought of something, he excitedly guessed, "Could Ancient One be gone? Or has Earth's defensive formation already been destroyed?"

Lu Xi did not answer Mephisto's questions. He merely silently gauged the depth of his power.

Mephisto was one of the most famous demon kings in the Hell Dimension. Rumor had it that his power was unfathomable, far beyond comparison to weaklings like Blackheart.

Without absolute confidence, Lu Xi had no desire to make a rash move.

Seeing Lu Xi remain silent, Mephisto assumed he had guessed correctly.

He immediately burst into maniacal laughter.

"Ha ha ha ha! I've finally waited for this day!"

"Ancient One, once I descend upon Earth, I will forever imprison your soul!!"

As he laughed wildly, a massive magic circle appeared beneath his feet.

The circle was covered in dense, incredibly intricate runes.

The formation lit up, its radiance shooting into the sky as though it had opened a gate to another plane.

Coulson could clearly smell an intense, pungent stench of blood and sulfur rushing toward him, making him want to vomit.

Lu Xi frowned deeply. He could faintly sense that on the other side of the formation was an aura identical to the Mephisto before him.

And the Mephisto beyond the formation seemed far more powerful than the one standing here.
