Two True Friends
Since he wasn't yet part of Dumbledore's plan, Lester could finally relax.
He extended his right hand to Harry quite openly and said, "Hello, my name is Lester Bide, male, I like playing pranks, I'm currently 11 years old, I have a tutor, one of whom gives me 1200. If you become my friend, I can give you 500 dollars a month for pocket money."
Harry Potter: "..."
Faced with Lester's unserious behavior, Harry Potter was a little confused and looked to Hagrid for help.
Unfortunately, because Hagrid was too high up, he couldn't see Harry's pitiful little eyes below him. Right now, he was still wondering what kind of person Old Man Bao was, that he could give 1200 Galleon a month.
"Hello!" Harry extended his right hand and said somewhat awkwardly, "My name is Harry Potter, nice to meet you!"
"Harry Potter, the famous the Chosen One?!" Even though Lester already knew Harry's identity, he still exclaimed with feigned surprise.
Harry felt a little embarrassed upon hearing this. He was a rather shy and insecure child to begin with, and now he was still finding it difficult to adapt to the role of the Chosen One.
Just as Harry Potter was ready to answer Lester's barrage of questions, he discovered that Lester was completely indifferent and showed no desire to ask him any questions.
Of course he knows! He's read the original books; he knows more about Harry Potter than Harry Potter himself does. What's the point of asking?
But this behavior, in Harry Potter's eyes, unknowingly brought Harry joy.
To be honest, Harry was actually a little afraid that Lester would ask him all sorts of questions because of his status the Chosen One. It wasn't that he was afraid of Lester asking questions, but rather that he was afraid of Lester distance that would follow.
He feared that his status the Chosen One would make him too conspicuous and prevent him from making friends, but now it seemed his fears were unfounded. This Lester in front of him didn't seem to have changed his attitude towards him at all because of his identity.
"Actually, I don't know what happened that day. I'm just an ordinary person. In fact, if it weren't for Hagrid, I wouldn't even know I'm a wizard!"
It was rare to meet someone of the same age in the Wizarding World, and one who didn't feel alienated because of his status the Chosen One. Harry suddenly became much more talkative.
"You've lived in the Wizarding World since you were little, so do you know magic?"
"Of course, but I didn't grow up in the Wizarding World. In fact, I spent most of my life in an orphanage, and some time in prison. I only came to the Wizarding World now through medical parole."
"Prison?! But... but you're only 11 years old!"
Harry was dumbfounded by Lester's answer; how could an 11-year-old be locked up in jail?
"Lester, you're kidding, aren't you? This joke isn't funny."
Lester's serious face (..•˘_˘•..)
Harry: "..."
Regarding his experience of being imprisoned in Azkaban, Lester felt he had nothing to hide, and that even if he didn't say it, others would know anyway.
After all, there are so many Pure-blood families in Hogwarts; it's practically a small society. It's better to state your identity openly from the beginning than to have others reveal it.
Besides, he was the son of a hero; his adoptive parents worked tirelessly for the Ministry of Magic, and in the end, he was thrown into Azkaban for offending powerful figures. Wasn't that the Ministry of Magic's fault? Why should he feel ashamed?
In a society, if only one person cannot afford to eat, then without a doubt, there is something wrong with that person.
But if in a society, as long as one person can afford to eat, then that society has a problem.
After revealing that he had been imprisoned, Lester didn't seem to care much about Harry's reaction.
Although Harry is the Chosen One of the Wizarding World, I am also the godfather of Azkaban, so there is no need for me to fawn over Harry.
If Harry is going to keep his distance just because he's been to prison, then he won't be so eager to win Harry's heart.
As a result, Lester soon discovered that when Harry learned that he had been to prison, he not only did not choose to distance himself from him, but instead became more concerned about him. Moreover, even Hagrid took good care of him.
"It's pathetic, but sometimes I wish I could be locked up in jail, because then I could leave the Dursley family. You've never met them, otherwise you'd know that prison might be better than their house!"
Harry immediately comforted Lester, while Hagrid patted Lester's head and said, "Don't worry, son, everything will be alright once you get to Hogwarts. You're just going to enter that awful place."
Although Lester didn't say why he was imprisoned, Hagrid could easily fill in the blanks.
In Hagrid's memory, it was practically a routine scenario for a child to grow up in an orphanage, go astray, and end up in prison for petty theft.
If it were someone else, they might tell Lester not to do anything illegal again and to obey the law.
But isn't that pure bullshit? If I could survive, would I do anything illegal?
To those who have no worries about food and clothing, doing illegal things is absolutely unacceptable, but clearly, neither Harry nor Hagrid are that kind of people.
Because they know what it's like to go hungry, they only feel sorry for Lester going to prison, and they don't think he brought it on himself, much less try to lecture Lester from a moral high ground.
Feeling Harry and Hagrid's enthusiasm, Lester fell silent.
He previously thought that those who followed Dumbledore were stupid. Dumbledore gave them nothing, yet they still followed him.
But after meeting Hagrid and Harry, he seemed to understand why, even though Dumbledore's faction was treated so poorly, people were still willing to follow Dumbledore —because the atmosphere under his command was simply too good!
If this were an ordinary young wizard, he would have been deeply moved. Now, even Lester has the urge to befriend Harry and Hagrid.
Since transmigrating to the Wizarding World, Lester has been constantly scheming and plotting against others, and this is the first time he has received care from someone else. He is feeling a little uncomfortable.
Seeing Hagrid and Harry's genuine expressions of concern, Lester felt a little touched.
"Alright, let's not talk about the past anymore. What's past is past. Now, let's go to Diagon Alley to buy some things!"
Just as Lester was about to say something, Hagrid spoke up, successfully interrupting Lester's spellcasting.
Lester: "..."
