Lester took a closer look and immediately spotted the difference between the two men.
The Auror at the front was not wearing the Aurors' uniform. Instead, he wore an ornate robe reserved for the nobility.
His face carried an unmistakable air of arrogance, and he looked at the other Aurors as if they were inferior animals.
At that moment, this man—whether nobleman or Auror—was listening impatiently to the middle-aged Auror's request.
Curious about what they were saying, Lester used the Wall-Piercing Technique to pass through the wall of the Auror office building and enter.
The moment he came in, Lester saw the richly dressed Auror sprawled arrogantly across the large sofa in the lounge. He picked up a bottle of drink from a nearby table and began drinking as though no one else were there.
Meanwhile, the middle-aged Auror, who looked exceptionally honest and dependable, stood stiffly before him and kept pleading.
"Chief, I really need to go home."
The man's voice was deep and powerful, the voice of a forthright fellow. Yet at that moment, it sounded incomparably humble.
"My child has gone missing. Apart from his mother, there aren't any other adults at home. He's my only son! I..."
Before the man could finish, the Auror chief stationed at Azkaban rudely cut him off.
"Your child has gone missing, so can't you ask the Aurors for help? Aren't you an Auror yourself? How can you lack even that much awareness?"
"But my wife and child are both ordinary people. Where are they supposed to find the Ministry of Magic?"
At those words, the previously impatient Auror in splendid robes instantly narrowed his eyes.
"You mean your wife and child are both Muggles?"
Hearing the deeply insulting term from his superior, the man clenched his fists in rage, yet he did not dare strike out.
He himself was Muggle-born. Having lived in the Wizarding World for three years, he knew that it was far from as wonderful as Hogwarts had portrayed it.
This magical place was filled with corruption and discrimination.
His superior was clearly the son of a Pure-blood family, sent to Azkaban merely to pad his credentials. If he offended him, he would likely be stationed in Azkaban for the rest of his life.
The man had no doubt about the viciousness of those Pure-blood wizards. Those scum were capable of anything.
Unfortunately, though the man was willing to endure it, the Pure-blood in magnificent robes only became more excessive.
"So, judging by the look of you, you're a Mudblood too?"
With contempt written across his face, the Pure-blood in splendid robes mocked the middle-aged Auror word by word. His sharp words were like knives, stabbing relentlessly into the man's heart.
His son had been abducted by human traffickers. Though he possessed magic, he could not use it to find his child. And in this damned place, he had to endure the mockery of a young master who had achieved nothing but being born into a prominent family.
The most laughable part was that he could not even resist.
Because the Wizarding World now belonged to the Pure-bloods. The Pure-bloods controlled everything in the Wizarding World.
Even when the Pure-bloods got drunk and went on killing sprees in the Muggle World, taking pleasure in slaughtering Muggles at will.
The Ministry of Magic would not make things difficult for those Pure-bloods. Instead, it would shift all responsibility onto Dark wizards of Muggle-born origins!
That was the Ministry of Magic now: corrupt, incompetent, and beyond saving.
Ten years ago, the man had already been an Auror. Fresh out of Hogwarts, he had believed that the Wizarding World truly was as wonderful as the school had described. But then...
Reality had slapped him viciously across the face. Discrimination, abuse, humiliation—things strictly forbidden at school were common sights in the Ministry of Magic, to the point where everyone had grown accustomed to them.
Just like the great war more than a decade ago. Under Voldemort's leadership, the Pure-blood nobles had initiated the war and massacred Muggle-born wizards like them.
Then the Savior had appeared out of nowhere and defeated Voldemort. Those criminals should have received the punishment they deserved, but did they truly receive it?
The man clearly remembered that many of his colleagues had died beneath the Dark magic of those Pure-blood Dark wizards.
And what did they get in return? Proof that those Pure-bloods had been controlled by the Imperius Curse!
How laughable... They had poured out countless efforts and even sacrificed their lives to defeat their powerful enemy, yet those Pure-bloods simply dusted themselves off and brushed the whole matter aside.
What about the Aurors who had died? What about the Muggle-born wizards who had died at the hands of those Pure-bloods?
Who would remember them? Who would care about them?
The warmongers of the past now sat high and secure. Not only had they infiltrated every corner of the Ministry of Magic, but they still openly lived lives of luxury.
And what about those who were the true heroes? They had spent most of their lives in Azkaban!
And now they still had to endure the insults of the descendants of those former war criminals!
"How about this? Even though you're a Mudblood, Merlin still granted you the right to cast spells. I'm in a good mood today. As long as you learn to bark like a dog and make me happy, I'll approve your leave slip and let you go find your son."
The young Auror in magnificent robes spoke with a hint of amusement, watching the middle-aged Auror as if enjoying a show.
The two Aurors standing guard turned red with fury as well. Their hands were clenched so tightly that their nails dug deeply into their flesh, yet they did not feel it.
They were furious too. Even a lump of clay had some temper, much less men like them.
How could they not be enraged in the face of such humiliation?
Although the man in splendid robes was mocking the middle-aged Auror, were they not Muggle-born as well?
How was that any different from insulting Black people in front of gorillas?
"I... you..."
After hearing the richly dressed Auror's words, the middle-aged man's face turned from green to purple with rage. At his age, he was more than old enough to be the young man's father.
Yet now, the young man actually wanted him to bark like a dog for him.
"Oh! It seems you aren't willing?"
The Pure-blood in splendid robes knowingly asked the question, then said even more cruelly, "Your son has only gone missing in the Muggle World for now."
"If you go out and use magic, you can easily find him."
"But what if, one day, your son is kidnapped by Dark wizards from the Wizarding World? Then he may never come back!"
The Pure-blood Auror tore away his hypocritical mask. Just to humiliate this middle-aged Auror, who had rendered outstanding service to the Ministry of Magic, he actually threatened to kidnap his son!
At last, after listening from the side for so long, Lester could no longer suppress the rage in his heart.
He had thought that only the upper Pure-blood families in the Ministry of Magic were corrupt, and that there were still good people within it.
But looking at the arrogant Pure-blood Auror before him, Lester knew he had been wrong. Terribly wrong.
The Ministry of Magic—no! The entire British Wizarding World needed reform.
A thorough reform from bottom to top!
