Because Azkaban was so desolate and remote, hardly any wizards were willing to guard it.
Usually, only Muggle-born wizards with no connections and wealthy young heirs looking to pad their resumes were stationed there.
Coupled with the Dementors everywhere in Azkaban, the Ministry of Magic largely took a hands-off approach to it. Thus, the vast Azkaban had only four Aurors at the moment.
The Pure-blood in luxurious robes, who had held the highest rank, had already been mercilessly devoured by the terrifying Fiendfyre. Of everyone present, only the middle-aged Auror had the most seniority.
Naturally, he took on the responsibility of communicating with Lester.
"Who are you? What are you doing in Azkaban?"
Before the blue Fiendfyre Serpent, the middle-aged Auror appeared incomparably nervous. But after glancing at the two young Aurors guarding the gate, who were nearly scared wet, he could only step forward.
Hearing the middle-aged Auror's question, Lester did not answer. Instead, he climbed onto the Fiendfyre Serpent's head.
Standing atop the snake head formed from terrifying Fiendfyre, Lester was not corroded by the flames. Instead, the Fiendfyre beneath his feet seemed like his own child, constantly seeking his favor and allowing him to control it as he pleased.
After briefly sweeping his gaze over the three remaining Aurors in the hall and confirming that none of them posed any threat to him, Lester finally dispelled his invisibility and slowly revealed himself.
A remarkably handsome black-haired youth stood proudly atop the Fiendfyre Serpent's head.
His gray prisoner's uniform fluttered without wind, snapping sharply under the force of magic.
A powerful oppressive aura surged from his slight body, relentlessly bearing down on the three Aurors present.
For a moment, the three Aurors could hardly believe their eyes. They all stared at Lester standing atop the serpent's head in terror.
"Y-you... who are you?"
The leading middle-aged Auror finally could not help asking after seeing Lester.
Although Lester's identity was obvious—the gray prisoner's uniform on him clearly showed that he was an Azkaban prisoner—Hafiz could not stop himself from asking.
Because had anyone ever seen such an absurdly overpowered Azkaban prisoner?
He had escaped alone from Azkaban Prison, surrounded by Dementors, then effortlessly taken down the Auror chief assigned there by the Ministry of Magic.
And now he had summoned a Fiendfyre Serpent large enough to fill half the room. How did he look like an Azkaban prisoner?
He was clearly a little Dark Lord!
"Me?" Lester patted the sleeve of his prisoner's uniform with a strange expression, looking at Hafiz as if he were an idiot. "Are you stupid? Can't you see I'm wearing an Azkaban prisoner's uniform?"
Lester felt rather helpless. He was beginning to wonder whether showing himself had been a mistake.
The middle-aged Auror in front of him seemed a little lacking in intelligence. He had not even taken off his prisoner's uniform—who else could he possibly be?
Hafiz: "..."
Hafiz was utterly bewildered by Lester's answer. Was that what he had asked?
Did Lester think he did not know that someone wearing a gray prisoner's uniform was an Azkaban inmate?
What he was curious about was how Lester had escaped from Azkaban so smoothly and could even cast such terrifying Fiendfyre!
Unfortunately, he was at Lester's mercy now. Faced with Lester's insult, Hafiz felt deeply aggrieved. But when he thought of his son, whom he had yet to find, and his wife, whom he had loved for years but could never give a happy life to, Hafiz decided to endure it.
Lester knew nothing of the middle-aged Auror Hafiz's inner turmoil.
He was currently staring at Hafiz with a hesitant expression, uncertain whether to take him as his first lackey.
Just moments ago, Lester had planned to steal the Portkey, return to Azkaban, and lead all the prisoners in causing havoc at the Ministry of Magic. But suddenly, he had a bold idea.
He would control all of Azkaban!
That was right. As the Wizarding World's only wizard prison, every wizard who committed a crime would be locked away in that hellhole called Azkaban.
If he could control Azkaban, it would mean he possessed the right to command every dark wizard imprisoned within it!
By then, countless dark wizard underlings would scramble to serve him!
Since he was still young, he needed a spokesperson who could help him manage Azkaban.
And Hafiz, who looked rather dull and foolish, seemed like a good choice.
He had a family, seniority, no family backing, and most importantly, his brain did not seem to work very well.
If Lester could subdue this Auror and support him as Azkaban's warden, he would be able to firmly control all of Azkaban.
Having made up his mind, Lester stopped thinking.
Looking down at the terrified Hafiz, Lester slowly asked, "Tell me, are you willing to submit to me?"
After asking, Lester did not wait for Hafiz's answer. Instead, he continued, "You have devoted most of your life to the Ministry of Magic."
"What did you get in return? Aren't you still just an ordinary Auror?"
Hearing Lester's words, Hafiz, who had still been somewhat hesitant, gradually began breathing harder.
Yes, he had passed the exams full of hope back then and struggled through countless hardships to enter the Ministry of Magic. What had he gotten in the end?
The supposedly most difficult exams in the Wizarding World could only restrain Muggle-born wizards like them. Those high-born Pure-bloods could often inherit their fathers' positions and enter the Ministry of Magic with ease.
"You're already in your thirties, yet you've accomplished nothing in this damned prison. Let me ask you: does your wife and child know about your current situation?"
"Have you ever brought them happiness? How many years have you been stationed in this forgotten hellhole? How many times a year do you get to see your family?"
As Lester continued questioning him, Hafiz's eyes gradually filled with rage.
He had left his hometown and his warm home behind to guard this godforsaken place, while those Pure-blood wizards treated it merely as a place to polish their credentials.
They enjoyed the happiness of being with their families every day, but what about him? He barely had any chances to see his child even once a year!
Now his son had gone missing in the Muggle World, yet the Ministry of Magic was not even willing to send Aurors to help him search.
When all it would take was casting a single spell!
Looking at Hafiz's face, now filled with anger, Lester knew that Hafiz had clearly taken his words to heart. All Lester needed was one more hard push, and Hafiz would immediately submit to him and become his most loyal subordinate!
