Lester looked at the two Aurors standing guard at the Security Office and walked over as if nothing were amiss.

Today was Monday, the busiest day at the Ministry of Magic.

So Lester's movement toward the Security Office with the crowd did not draw anyone's attention.

The Security Office was the only entrance into the Ministry of Magic. Here, two Aurors inspected every visitor's wand and only allowed them inside after confirming there were no safety issues.

Soon, it was Lester's turn to submit his wand for inspection.

One of the tall, thin Aurors looked arrogantly at Lester, who wore Sang Biao's face, and said coldly, "Well? What are you doing at the Ministry of Magic?"

A petty official could wield great power at a prime minister's gate. These Aurors from Pure-blood families might not have had much skill otherwise, but they were good at judging people.

Though Sang Biao's fierce face looked frightening, he clearly did not look like some wealthy noble. The two Pure-bloods had no intention of treating Lester with respect.

"I have some business at the Auror Office," Lester said in a deep, lumbering voice, with a hint of honest simplicity in his tone.

"What, have you been wronged in the Wizarding World?" The tall, thin Auror raised a brow and looked Lester over with interest.

As the Wizarding World's only violent enforcement agency, Aurors could not only use force to crack down on crime, but also had the discretion to decide whether to act at all.

Being a Pure-blood himself, the tall, thin Auror knew all too well what sort of people those Pure-blood bureaucrats sitting in their offices were.

If a Muggle-born wizard committed a crime, they would immediately dispatch Aurors to arrest them, then throw them straight into Azkaban without even bothering with a trial.

But if a Pure-blood wizard committed a crime? Sorry, the Auror Office would hold a discussion lasting half a year before sending anyone out.

They would discuss how to "quickly" apprehend the criminal Pure-blood, and that discussion would continue until the criminal handed over a generous security deposit to the officials at Auror Command.

Then the matter would immediately fizzle out, becoming an unsolved injustice with no culprit.

Judging by Lester's urgency in coming straight to the Ministry on a Monday, what else could it be if not a grievance?

"I advise you not to go. It'll be a waste of time, and you might even get humiliated."

Looking at Sang Biao's somewhat guileless face, the tall, thin Auror gave him a kind warning.

If this big fellow got worked up and started arguing with those Pure-bloods in the Auror Office, then even if those Pure-bloods killed him right inside the Ministry, no one would ever know.

Lester: "..."

He looked at the tall, thin wizard, who was still talking at length, with a strange expression. He knew the man meant well, but wasn't he imagining a little too much?

He merely wanted an excuse to get to the elevators. How had this tall, thin Auror managed to come up with all that?

Just as Lester was feeling thoroughly awkward, the other Auror spoke.

"What's the point of wasting words on a Mudblood?"

The other Auror wore an arrogant expression as he held out his hand to Lester and ordered, "Give me your wand. No one enters the Ministry of Magic without an inspection."

He did not care whether Lester would be beaten to death by Pure-blood officials after entering. In his eyes, it was these lowly Mudbloods who had taken jobs in the Wizarding World and squeezed him into guarding the gate.

"Fine, fine. Here's my wand."

Hearing the Pure-blood's arrogant words, Lester frowned, but still handed over his wand.

Hafiz had given him the wand. Since not every prisoner who entered Azkaban walked out alive, Hafiz had plenty of ownerless wands. Lester had simply grabbed one to keep up appearances.

Seeing this, the tall, thin Auror beside them sighed helplessly. Why would this man not listen to advice?

"Tch." The Pure-blood Auror responsible for inspecting the wand clicked his tongue disdainfully and took the wand Lester handed over with obvious disgust.

As though he were holding garbage, the Pure-blood Auror had barely picked up the wand before impatiently tossing it into the wand inspection slot.

"Who knows what these Mudbloods do with their wands!" Disgust filled the Pure-blood Auror's eyes, but due to his duties, he still looked toward the displayed results.

Comparing them to the test results, the Pure-blood Auror muttered impatiently, "Ebony wood, serpent nerve."

After saying that, the Pure-blood Auror gave Sang Biao a strange look and muttered in a voice so low it was barely audible, though Lester could just make it out, "A Mudblood's choice. Even the wand materials have to imitate those of noble Pure-bloods to suck up to them."

As he spoke, the Pure-blood continued reading, checking what spells the wand had cast before.

The first thing that appeared before his eyes was a flash of green light, brimming with boundless killing intent. Even viewing it through the inspection machine, the Auror broke out in a cold sweat on instinct.

And that was not all. The display showed that this wand had cast the Killing Curse thousands of times over the past twenty years. The number of times it had cast the Cruciatus Curse and Imperius Curse was even more countless...

The oldest Killing Curse on record dated back more than a decade, to the era of Voldemort's unrest.

"Fucking..." As the usage records continued appearing on the screen, the Auror, who had been so arrogant just moments earlier, felt as though he had fallen into a bottomless ice pit. His whole body turned cold, and he began trembling uncontrollably.

"B-Big Brother, what... what business do you have at the Ministry of Magic...?"

The Pure-blood Auror's face had gone pale with fright. Looking at Lester, he trembled for a long time without managing to finish a complete sentence.

It was not that he was too cowardly. Lester's identity was simply too terrifying.

A Death Eater!

Though he was young, he had still lived through Voldemort's great era of unrest.

Back then, Voldemort, backed by the old Pure-blood families, claimed he wanted to eliminate Muggle-born wizards. But what was his true goal?

Wasn't it to suppress rising Pure-blood noble families like theirs, who had gradually gained influence through the support of Muggle-born wizards?

His family controlled the Ministry of Magic, and that had already harmed the interests of those old Pure-blood families.

So, with their interests in direct conflict,

Voldemort's attitude toward Ministry of Magic wizards like them had not been much better than his attitude toward Muggle-born wizards. He killed one when he saw one, and killed both when he saw two.

The Death Eaters launched terrorist attacks against the Ministry of Magic every day. Whenever they felt like it, they would throw a few Killing Curses into the Ministry. These newly risen Pure-blood families, who still lacked any real foundation, could only swallow their anger in silence.

It was only after Harry Potter appeared out of nowhere and defeated Voldemort, dealing a devastating blow to the old Pure-blood nobility and forcing them to pay enormous reparations after the war, that these rising Pure-blood families gradually became prosperous.

But they had not even enjoyed their good days for a few years before these Death Eaters returned!

The Pure-blood Auror truly wanted to die!
