Gao Jing spent three days by the stream.
He also stayed three nights in the treehouse.
On the first night of camping, he only slept three or four hours, and even that sleep was shallow.
He remained vigilant at all times, only sleeping a little more deeply in the predawn hours.
He slept much longer on the second night, but still not very soundly.
It was not until the third night that Gao Jing finally got proper rest, just as he normally would.
That was because even in a state of deep sleep, he could keenly sense danger!
Ordinary people obviously could not possess such an ability.
Yet Gao Jing had solved this major problem troubling him in just three nights!
This was the supernatural ability Red Serpent had given him.
The power of the snake blood did not stop there. Gao Jing also discovered that as long as he deliberately stirred his emotions toward a specific target, he could release a peculiar aura that imposed invisible intimidation upon it!
The aura's intimidating range could reach as far as twenty or thirty meters.
Earlier, Gao Jing had used this method to scare a large gray rat into wetting itself.
Afterward, he had also frightened away dozens of birds, three rabbits, and a large water snake.
Over the past three days, he had used his drone to search the area within a five-kilometer radius and discovered quite a few wild animals.
Birds, rabbits, deer, cattle, and even a lone wolf.
But overall, the area around the campsite was not very dangerous. That lone wolf had merely passed by and soon vanished from sight.
There was little danger, but Gao Jing had not found anything particularly valuable either.
This was his fourth time entering the Great World. So far, he had not earned a single cent and had instead sunk two or three hundred thousand into it.
Strictly speaking, though, it was not as if there was nothing valuable here.
For example, timber. Cutting down any random large tree would yield thousands of cubic meters of logs.
But leaving aside the problems of logging and transportation, it would not be easy to bring them back to the Main World and sell them.
At the very least, he could not explain their species or origin.
There were also the fish in the stream. They were plentiful and absurdly easy to catch, their flesh and texture resembling salmon, while their flavor surpassed it by far.
It was fine to satisfy his own appetite, but transporting them to the Main World to sell would be entirely not worth the effort.
Gao Jing had no intention of becoming a timber merchant or fishmonger.
Only six Silver Scales remained on the Copper Anchor. He did not even know whether they could be replenished. Using such precious chances to earn this little bit of hard-earned money would be like having his head kicked by a donkey!
But at the moment, Gao Jing did not have an urgent need to make money.
In truth, the benefits he had already gained were something money could never measure.
From another perspective, Gao Jing had already made a killing!
On the morning of the fourth day, after waking in the treehouse, Gao Jing quickly packed up the tent and sleeping bag and returned them to his storage space.
After a simple breakfast, he stepped across the stones in the stream and jumped to the opposite bank.
Then he set off toward the grassland ahead.
There were fewer and fewer Silver Scales left, so Gao Jing had to seize every precious opportunity to travel through space.
He did not want to remain in this safe place any longer, idly staring at the scenery every day and wasting his life.
Opportunities had to be firmly grasped, but they also had to be sought out on one's own!
The wilderness stretched boundlessly before him. The long grass easily submerged Gao Jing's legs and impeded his steps.
From time to time, insects and grasshoppers sprang from the grass and darted into the air.
Fearful of the aura Gao Jing gave off, they scattered in all directions and fled.
Gao Jing kept walking east.
About every two hours, he rested once. Besides drinking water and eating to restore his strength, he also launched the Mavic 2 to scout the surroundings and guard against danger.
Along the way, Gao Jing discovered a herd of Horned Sheep.
There were over a thousand of them, gathered together in a dense mass.
An adult Horned Sheep stood at least ten meters at the shoulder, equivalent to the height of a three-story building in the Main World.
Most eye-catching of all was the conical horn on each sheep's head. Thick and long, its polished tip looked exceptionally sharp.
Thus, Gao Jing named them Horned Sheep.
Gao Jing did not provoke this herd of Horned Sheep grazing on the grass. He made a wide detour and continued onward.
He walked from morning until afternoon, trudging across the grassland for more than seven hours.
He estimated that he had covered roughly thirty kilometers.
He was drenched in sweat.
But for the current Gao Jing, that level of exertion was not much.
He was the man who had set a new marathon record.
Though not a world record.
Moo~
Just as Gao Jing was preparing to sit down and rest again, a roar like muffled thunder suddenly reached his ears!
The sound came from far away and carried intense fury!
Gao Jing immediately raised the high-powered binoculars hanging from his chest and looked toward where the sound had come from.
Five kilometers away, an enormous wild bull was being brutally besieged!
Gao Jing's breathing instantly froze.
He was not shocked by the sight of the wild bull—the ones surrounding it were five giants.
Giants over twenty meters tall!!
Gao Jing had previously seen a wild bull come to the stream to drink, and it had left a deep impression on him.
That was why he could so easily judge the giants' height.
But that was beside the point.
Ever since coming to explore and adventure in this Great World, after witnessing all manner of astonishingly huge plants and animals, Gao Jing had wondered whether intelligent life existed here.
Now, he finally had his answer!
The five giants hunting the wild bull were primitive and backward, whether in their clothing or weaponry.
Their bodies were wrapped in crudely made animal hides, while their chests, arms, and thighs were left bare. Beneath their bronze skin, muscles bulged furiously, displaying explosive strength.
Every one of these giants was bald. Gao Jing did not know whether they had been born that way or shaved their heads deliberately. Strange grayish-white patterns were painted across their scalps, making them resemble natives from an uncivilized tribe in the Main World.
The weapons they used to attack the wild bull were stone axes and clubs. Three or four spears were still embedded in the bull's body.
Blood streamed everywhere.
The giants clearly held the upper hand in this battle.
But the wounded wild bull did not submit. Its scarlet eyes glared fiercely as it lowered its head, spread its four hooves, and charged left and right while panting heavily, trying to break through the encirclement its enemies had laid.
Even giants as strong as they were did not dare withstand its charge head-on.
They shouted as they coordinated with one another, continually thwarting the wild bull's attempts to escape and using their weapons to inflict even more wounds upon their prey.
Driven by intense curiosity toward these primitive giants, Gao Jing quietly crept over a hundred meters in their direction.
Then he jumped onto a tree trunk lying horizontally amid the grass.
Such rotten, decayed logs were common on the grassland, and the height of six or seven meters gave Gao Jing a broader view.
The weeds could no longer block his sight.
He saw more clearly.
But Gao Jing did not notice a large cluster of exceptionally brightly colored mushrooms growing beneath the rotten log.
After watching for only a short while longer, he suddenly caught a faint whiff of sweet fragrance.
Hmm?
Gao Jing sniffed.
Just as he was about to investigate the source of the scent, the world suddenly spun around him!
Damn it!
Gao Jing's face immediately changed in alarm.
Yet before he could send the intent to return to the Copper Anchor, he had already completely lost consciousness.
He toppled onto the rotten log like a dead pig!
