Chance Encounter

As night fell, Gao Jing came out to forage for food as usual.

As the cultural center of Greater China, Capital City's local specialties might have been rather lacking, but it was, after all, an international metropolis. Its bustling commercial districts gathered dining brands from every corner of the country.

Whether diners wanted Sichuan hotpot, Cantonese dim sum, French cuisine, or Japanese food, they could find a restaurant to their liking here and soothe their stomachs.

Having completed his task in Capital City today, Gao Jing planned to return to Shanghai tomorrow, so he intended to treat himself properly tonight.

Following the restaurant ratings on his phone, he found a highly reviewed Jiangnan restaurant.

He planned to have some hometown dishes.

But when Gao Jing arrived at the Jiangnan restaurant, he found at least several dozen customers seated in the waiting area of the lobby.

Business was so good that he had no idea what number the queue had reached!

This was common at popular restaurants, and Gao Jing was not surprised, though he felt a little depressed.

He did not want to wait an hour or two for dinner, so he prepared to check out another restaurant.

"Old Gao?"

Just as Gao Jing turned around, a tall, skinny man in front of him asked doubtfully, "Gao Jing?"

He looked like he recognized him but did not dare be sure.

Gao Jing smiled. "Big Liu, long time no see."

"Holy shit!"

The skinny man was instantly overjoyed. He stepped forward and spread his arms wide. "It really is you! I almost didn't recognize you!"

"Haha!"

Laughing, Gao Jing gave him a hug. "You've changed a lot too."

This tall, skinny man was named Liu Xingtai. He was from the Northeast, Gao Jing's college classmate, and also his dorm roommate.
