Gao Jing had just returned to the Radiant Wizard Tower when he found Miya waiting for him.

Before Gao Jing could ask anything, she asked anxiously, "I heard that Wu Yong of the Wu Clan challenged you to a duel, and that you accepted. Is that true?"

Gao Jing nodded. "Yes."

He had not expected the news to spread so quickly. Miya had already heard about it.

"Ah!"

Miya stamped her foot. "How could you agree to it? He's a High-Rank Grand Wizard. A challenge like this is unfair!"

The tradition of wizard dueling challenges had existed for a long time, but it basically followed one principle.

A higher-ranked party could not challenge a lower-ranked one.

Unless the lower-ranked party agreed.

Of course, those of the same rank could also refuse. A higher-ranked wizard who was challenged would usually not refuse, however, or his reputation would inevitably suffer.

Wu Yong was a High-Rank Grand Wizard, while Gao Jing was an Initial-Rank Grand Wizard. The former taking the initiative to challenge the latter violated the principle of fairness, and Gao Jing could have righteously refused.

But since he had agreed, it was no longer bound by that principle!

Gao Jing smiled. "It doesn't matter."

Thinking about it now, Wu Yong had probably not come to the Wizard Academy to challenge him because he feared being scorned and stopped by others.

Once they had left the Hall of Ten Thousand Wizards, however, the situation was completely different.
