The Giant Spirit Witch Slave floated in the air while Bao'er stood on the ground.
The two stared at each other wide-eyed.
Although Bao'er's eyes were large, dark, bright, and pure, filled with surprise and wonder,
compared to the Giant Spirit Witch Slave's, they were small.
The two "people" stared blankly at each other for quite a while before Bao'er hesitantly asked, "Daddy, is it our housekeeper?"
"Yes."
Zuo Yi smiled. "It can help us wash clothes, heat up meals, clean the house, and if there are mosquitoes, flies, ants, or anything like that at home, it can chase them all away."
Bao'er's eyes widened even further. "Won't it be very tired?"
Doing so much work had to be exhausting, right?
She could not help thinking of Auntie Qing. Every time Auntie Qing finished cleaning the house, she would complain that she was exhausted and that it was so hard.
"It won't."
Zuo Yi shook his head. "It's very hardworking. Those are all jobs it likes."
Bao'er found that hard to believe. "Really?"
Zuo Yi answered firmly, "Really."
Of course, he was not lying. For a Giant Spirit Witch Slave, working tirelessly without complaint was its entire life.
Bao'er asked, "Then what is its name?"
"A name?"
That question gave Zuo Yi a bit of a headache. "It... doesn't have one."
As a low-level Law Creation, a Giant Spirit Witch Slave usually only had a serial number rather than a name. Whether wizard or knight, they simply commanded it through mental will and had no need for it to have a name.
Bao'er was puzzled. "Why?"
Zuo Yi found it hard to explain. "Uh, then why don't you give it a name?"
"Hmm..."
Bao'er thought for a moment and said, "Let's call it Agu."
"Agu?"
Zuo Yi asked, "Which gu?"
"Agu. The gu with ten on top and mouth underneath."
Bao'er looked at Zuo Yi as if to say, Daddy, you're so silly, then raised her little finger and showed him how to write the character "gu." "This gu!"
Zuo Yi bowed to the little boss once again. "Daddy understands. Then we'll call it Agu."
But Zuo Yi noticed a problem. "Sweetheart, have you learned to read and write?"
"Mm-hmm!"
Bao'er nodded with certainty. "Auntie Qing taught me. Now I can recognize one hundred, two hundred..."
She counted on her fingers. "Four hundred, five hundred. I know more than five hundred characters now!"
One hand was exactly enough.
"Amazing!"
Zuo Yi sighed in admiration. "You already know so many characters. You're much better than Daddy was when he was little."
When he was four, he definitely had not learned to recognize that many characters.
Bao'er proudly lifted her little face.
Zuo Yi could not help touching her chubby cheek. "Why did you name it Agu?"
Bao'er explained seriously, "Because Agu looks a lot like the Ancient God in Chencheng's Adventures."
So that was why...
Zuo Yi had not actually read Chencheng's Adventures. He raised his head and said to the Giant Spirit Witch Slave, "From now on, your name will be Agu."
Zuo Yi pointed at Bao'er. "She is your little master. You must obey her commands just as you obey mine!"
The Giant Spirit Witch Slave accepted its new name and new little master without the slightest resentment.
It bowed to Bao'er. "Honored little master, Agu shall forever be your most loyal servant!"
Faced with the Giant Spirit Witch Slave's deference, Bao'er was somewhat at a loss. She grabbed Zuo Yi's hem and asked quietly, "Daddy, should I shake hands with it?"
Based on the "common sense" she had learned from television and books, it seemed that she should shake hands to show goodwill and friendliness at a time like this.
Though the object she was shaking hands with was a little strange.
Zuo Yi smiled. "You can."
Bao'er bravely extended her little hand toward the Giant Spirit Witch Slave. "Hello, Agu."
Given the Giant Spirit Witch Slave's intelligence, it was difficult for it to correctly understand the meaning of Bao'er's gesture, even though Zuo Yi had implanted a mental seed containing common knowledge about life on Blue Star.
But Zuo Yi, this humanoid cheat, was right beside it. The Giant Spirit Witch Slave immediately lowered itself, bent at the waist, and extended its swollen, bulging hand.
It shook Bao'er's little hand. "Hello, beautiful and adorable little master!"
It had to be pointed out that the words "beautiful and adorable" came from Zuo Yi's mental instruction, because this simpleton Giant Spirit Witch Slave only knew how to say "honored master" and "honored little master."
The Giant Spirit Witch Slave was a semi-spiritual entity, somewhere between physical and spiritual. Bao'er therefore felt as though her little hand had been wrapped in a warm, elastic ball of cotton, then passively shaken up and down.
She could not help giggling—this was too fun.
Zuo Yi patted her head. "Now that you've met Agu, Daddy will introduce you to another friend. How about that?"
"Okay!"
Bao'er agreed at once, looking very expectant.
Zuo Yi said, "This friend is that strange thing you noticed earlier. It looks ugly, but don't be afraid, because it protects us and guards our home. It will never hurt us."
Bao'er hesitated for a moment, but still nodded—she believed Daddy.
Once Bao'er was mentally prepared, Zuo Yi turned toward the door and let out a sharp whistle. Seconds later, the sound of fluttering wings rang out, and the ash-gray gargoyle descended from the sky, abruptly landing at the living room entrance!
"Ah!"
Bao'er cried out softly and immediately hid behind Zuo Yi.
Completely unlike the honest, round Giant Spirit Witch Slave, the gargoyle was undoubtedly the kind of monster often found in nightmares. If Zuo Yi had not specifically warned her earlier, she would certainly have been badly frightened.
Most importantly, Zuo Yi gave her the greatest sense of security. So although she was afraid, the little girl still cautiously poked half her head out and secretly peeked at the gargoyle.
Zuo Yi did not let the gargoyle approach. In fact, he had already issued it a top-level command, placing Bao'er on its protection list and allowing her to command this Law Creation at will.
The gargoyle's combat power and intelligence surpassed the Giant Spirit Witch Slave's by miles.
"Sweetheart..."
Zuo Yi suggested, "You gave Agu a name, so give it one too."
Bao'er pulled her head back and said softly, "Call it Aguai."
Aguai...
Zuo Yi could not help laughing as he sent the gargoyle a mental command: From this day onward, your name shall be Aguai!
Heh heh heh.
The gargoyle lowered its head in acceptance, then spread its wings and soared into the air, returning to its nest in the treetop in the blink of an eye.
In this world obsessed with looks, something as ugly as it could only make a brief appearance, lest it frighten the flowers and grass.
After the gargoyle left, Zuo Yi could clearly sense Bao'er let out a breath of relief.
He said, "It's all right now. Aguai has gone back."
"Mm."
Bao'er was no longer afraid. She even asked, "Daddy, you said Aguai guards our home. Does that mean it's like a dog? Dogs guard homes too."
"Yes."
Zuo Yi said, "Aguai is even smarter than a dog. It can catch every thief. It's very impressive!"
Bao'er thought for a moment. "I still like dogs."
(The gargoyle had already cried itself unconscious in the treetop.)
"You like dogs?"
An idea suddenly struck Zuo Yi, and he hurriedly said, "Then how about Daddy gives you a dog?"
"Huh?"
Bao'er was overjoyed. "Really?"
"Of course it's true!"
Zuo Yi smiled. "I'll give you one right now!"
Whether as a friend or a companion, neither Aguai nor Agu was suitable for Bao'er.
The reason was obvious. Aguai was too fierce, Agu was too dim-witted, and both were semi-spiritual entities. Neither could conveniently stay by Bao'er's side to keep her company and amuse her.
Bao'er had reminded Zuo Yi herself!
The next moment, a giant egg silently appeared in Zuo Yi's palm.
The egg was over a foot long and half a foot high, a perfect oval. It was flawlessly white, like a piece of jade.
But only seconds after appearing in Zuo Yi's hand, countless thin red lines emerged across its surface, densely interwoven into an endless array of complex runes!
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Like war drums being beaten, deep and majestic sounds came one after another from inside the egg.
Although she had grown somewhat accustomed to Zuo Yi's endless stream of miraculous tricks, Bao'er could not help asking, "Daddy, are you Doraemon?"
Time and again, he "conjured" things out of thin air. The little girl seriously suspected that her daddy was Doraemon in disguise!
Robot Cat Zuo Yi chuckled. "I'll tell you the answer to that question later."
