After leaving the Hokage's Office, Ye Fan and Kurenai Yuhi did not return to the training grounds. Instead, they headed for the ninja hospital to visit Naruto Uzumaki.
It was Kurenai Yuhi's suggestion.
When they arrived at the ninja hospital,
Ye Fan was quite surprised to find many ANBU members lying in wait nearby, all of their attention focused on a single ward.
Through his sensing, Ye Fan discovered that the ward was precisely where Naruto Uzumaki was staying.
"Why were so many ANBU members paying such close attention to a Genin?"
Ye Fan was suspicious.
He continued surveying the surroundings as he followed behind Kurenai Yuhi.
At the hospital reception desk, Kurenai Yuhi asked for Naruto Uzumaki's ward number, then led Ye Fan up the stairs.
"Kurenai Yuhi-sensei, could you tell me what identity Naruto Uzumaki has? I feel that Lord Hokage cares about him greatly."
As they climbed the stairs, Ye Fan asked in an apparently casual manner.
Kurenai Yuhi's body visibly stiffened. She turned her head and looked at Ye Fan as she asked,
"Why do you feel that way?"
"Just a hunch!" Ye Fan answered.
Kurenai Yuhi naturally knew Naruto Uzumaki's identity, but it was top secret and could not be disclosed.
Yet if she said nothing at all, she feared Ye Fan would grow suspicious.
"Like you, Naruto Uzumaki is an orphan. His parents were both outstanding Konoha Village ninja before they died. Unlike you, Naruto Uzumaki was never fostered by any family and has always lived alone. Perhaps that is why Lord Hokage takes special care of him."
As Kurenai Yuhi spoke, she watched Ye Fan's expression.
Clearly, it was merely a perfunctory explanation.
Perhaps others would have believed it.
But Ye Fan was far too perceptive to believe the reason was so simple.
