Kurenai Yuhi left and headed straight for the Hokage Building.
"Is Lord Hokage in? I need to see him."
Kurenai Yuhi wore a grave expression. She wanted to know exactly what the Third Hokage meant by this.
"Kurenai Yuhi, what is it?" someone stopped her and asked.
Inside the office, Hiruzen Sarutobi promptly set down the documents in his hands when he saw Kurenai Yuhi enter.
"Lord Hokage, why did you have Ye Fan accompany Team 10 on their mission?"
Kurenai Yuhi got straight to the point.
"Kurenai Yuhi, do you understand what kind of person Ye Fan is?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked instead of answering.
Kurenai Yuhi did not respond. She simply stared straight at the Third Hokage.
She had not come here to chat.
"Over this period, Ye Fan has displayed many extraordinary qualities. I believe you have felt that deeply as well," Hiruzen Sarutobi said again.
"Lord Hokage, do you consider Ye Fan a threat?"
There was obvious emotion in Kurenai Yuhi's question.
"Kurenai Yuhi, I understand how you feel." After a pause, Hiruzen Sarutobi continued, "This time, I only had Ye Fan accompany Team 10 on the mission to see whether this child truly has the potential to become a Chunin."
"But Lord Hokage, if you wanted to test Ye Fan, why not let me arrange it?"
"Kurenai Yuhi, this does not count as a test. I merely asked Asuma to keep a closer eye on him," Hiruzen Sarutobi explained.
"Did Lord Hokage make any special arrangements for this mission?" Kurenai Yuhi stared intently at the Third Hokage.
"No!" Hiruzen Sarutobi answered decisively.
Perhaps seeing that Kurenai Yuhi still had doubts, Hiruzen Sarutobi added, "Kurenai Yuhi, this is not as complicated as you imagine. I believe you understand Asuma's character better than I do."
