Ye Fan was delighted to discover that the more powerful the Genjutsu cast by the user, the more easily he could obtain that person's memories.
In other words,
Genjutsu in this world not only posed no threat to him, but could also help him easily learn another person's memories.
Ye Fan understood that unless someone in this world could overpower him in terms of soul strength,
casting Genjutsu was equivalent to opening the door to their memories for him.
"Could it be that this Genjutsu is useless against you too?"
Kurenai Yuhi sounded astonished.
She could not believe that her prized Genjutsu had actually failed on the boy before her.
"Teacher Kurenai Yuhi's Genjutsu is very impressive." Ye Fan smiled. "If possible, could you let me see some other Genjutsu?"
At that moment, Kurenai Yuhi did not even know what to say.
This brat!
Was he flattering me?
With that calm and unruffled expression, how did he look like someone who had fallen under Genjutsu in the slightest?
This was truly strange!
Why was her Genjutsu ineffective against him?
"Teacher Kurenai Yuhi?"
Seeing that she had not spoken for quite some time, Ye Fan hurriedly reminded her.
Kurenai Yuhi calmed herself and said seriously,
"All right, we'll stop here for today."
She had no choice but to stop casting Genjutsu. She could not shake the feeling that there was something strange about him.
Her intuition told her that she could not continue.
Ye Fan did not press the matter. He merely said,
"Thank you for today, Teacher Kurenai Yuhi. You let me witness the power of Genjutsu."
His gratitude was genuine,
and so was the smile on his face,
but what he said
was not what he truly wished to express.
What he truly wanted to thank her for was allowing him to discover a way to read another person's memories.
The beauty of this method was that
because the other party had voluntarily opened a Memory Channel, the burden on Ye Fan's soul while reading their memories was not great.
Simply put, he did not have to worry about his soul being injured again.
"Ye Fan, do you really not have any Chakra left at all?"
Kurenai Yuhi suddenly asked such a question.
"Yes, it's quite troubling. I don't have even a trace of Chakra left, and I don't know whether I can still become a ninja."
Though Ye Fan said so, the smile on his face did not fade in the slightest.
Hearing such an insincere answer, Kurenai Yuhi became even more convinced that the boy had some unspeakable secret.
Elsewhere.
Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, and Hinata Hyuga, who had been watching the situation, were quietly discussing it.
"There's no mistake. Teacher Kurenai Yuhi just used Genjutsu on Brother Ye Fan."
Kiba Inuzuka looked utterly serious. Akamaru, perched atop his head, barked twice in agreement.
"That's right. I sensed it too."
Shino Aburame raised an arm. Several Chakra Bugs could be seen circling his fingertips as though they were conveying some sort of information.
Although Hinata Hyuga had not activated her Byakugan, she agreed with her two companions. She even raised her own question,
"Why did Teacher Kurenai Yuhi do that?"
"I think Brother Ye Fan must have asked her to."
Kiba Inuzuka looked thoughtful.
"You don't know this, but Brother Ye Fan loves studying all sorts of strange things. He's also said before that he was curious about Genjutsu."
"But after Teacher Kurenai Yuhi used Genjutsu, why did your Brother Ye Fan show no reaction at all?"
Shino Aburame adjusted the dark glasses on the bridge of his nose. He had been observing Ye Fan the entire time.
"Well..."
Kiba Inuzuka did not know how to answer.
Shino Aburame continued, "Kiba, how much do you really know about your Brother Ye Fan? Has he ever shown you his true strength?"
"Shino, what are you trying to say?"
"Did you know that your Brother Ye Fan once made the Chakra Bugs inside my body restless? He even evaded the Chakra Bugs' detection."
Shino Aburame's expression was unusually serious.
The matter had always bothered him, and he was taking this opportunity to ask about it.
"That happened? How did I not know?"
Kiba Inuzuka laughed. The more others felt that Ye Fan was extraordinary, the prouder he became.
"Tell me. What exactly do you know?"
Shino Aburame's sharp gaze seemed to pierce through his dark glasses, making Kiba Inuzuka instantly wipe the smile from his face.
"If I'm not mistaken, Brother Ye Fan probably used some kind of medicinal powder."
Kiba Inuzuka thought for a moment before continuing,
"You don't know this, but the medicinal powders Brother Ye Fan makes are incredibly potent. Do you remember that time when Brother Ye Fan and I had a shadow spar, and I suddenly collapsed?"
Shino Aburame and Hinata Hyuga stared intently at Kiba Inuzuka, waiting for what came next.
Kiba Inuzuka's sudden collapse that time had been far too strange. Shino Aburame had even suspected at the time that Ye Fan had used some kind of Genjutsu.
"I'm telling you, that happened because of some medicinal powder Brother Ye Fan made. You have no idea how powerful that powder was. Just catching a whiff of it felt as though my soul had left my body."
As Kiba Inuzuka spoke, he wore an expression of lingering fear.
Shino Aburame and Hinata Hyuga exchanged glances, each seeing disbelief on the other's face.
"I think that after Brother Ye Fan becomes a Genin, he'll most likely join the medical corps."
Kiba Inuzuka first muttered that to himself, then seemed to recall something and suddenly lowered his voice as he spoke to them,
"Oh, right. Have you seen Brother Ye Fan's new ninja dog, Laiyun? I heard from my sister that when Laiyun dragged himself back to Konoha with severe injuries, he had already stopped breathing. Even my sister could do nothing, but after Brother Ye Fan treated him, he came back to life just like that."
"Something like that happened?"
Shino Aburame was shocked.
"Don't spread this around, you two. I don't want my sister to beat me up."
Kiba Inuzuka solemnly warned them.
He loved sharing Ye Fan's extraordinary qualities with others.
"I never expected Brother Ye Fan to possess such astonishing medical skills." Hinata Hyuga could not help but say.
"I heard from my little sister Hanabi that she was able to perform the Thirty-Two Palms of the Eight Trigrams consecutively thanks to Brother Ye Fan's guidance."
Hearing Hinata Hyuga's praise, Kiba Inuzuka chuckled.
"Brother Ye Fan is capable of much more than that. Let me tell you..."
Before he could finish, Ye Fan's voice suddenly came from behind them,
"What good news are you talking about? Let me hear it too!"
Seeing Ye Fan and Kurenai Yuhi walking back, Kiba Inuzuka gave an awkward smile and did not continue.
"Kiba, don't gossip. Think about how you're going to complete your training goal."
Ye Fan spoke with a smile. Clearly, he had overheard their conversation.
At the mention of training, Kiba Inuzuka's eyes lit up. He hurriedly said,
"Brother Ye Fan, while practicing holding my breath, there was a moment when it felt like every pore on my body was breathing."
"Oh? Really?"
Ye Fan was slightly startled.
He had not expected Kiba Inuzuka's talent to be even better than he had imagined.
