Katelyle wondered whether something was wrong with his ears.
"Mr. Malfoy, don't you find what you're saying rather amusing?"
"There are things Dumbledore leaves unsaid and Severus Snape doesn't expose. All that means is that you've hidden them well-and that you're a shameless hypocrite."
Katelyle looked at Lucius Malfoy, making no attempt to soften his words.
Lucius Malfoy's expression shifted slightly.
It fell just short of pointing straight at him and saying, "You're a Death Eater."
Lucius Malfoy fell silent for a moment, then recalled what his son Draco had said.

"Professor Kate, I'm already in too deep. I can't simply pull out," Lucius Malfoy said gravely.
Katelyle chuckled at that. "In too deep?"
"Mr. Malfoy, you don't seem to understand yourself well enough."
Lucius Malfoy sat up straight and fixed his eyes on Katelyle. Though he knew nothing pleasant was coming, he still said, "Please speak plainly, Professor Katelyle."
Katelyle said calmly, "You graduated from Slytherin. Your heart is full of wealth, power, and ambition, and you also possess a measure of luck and petty cunning."
"Your lies allowed you to escape punishment from the Ministry of Magic. Your petty cunning lets you maneuver among the Death Eaters while retaining a high standing, but it also leaves your actions and plans riddled with unforeseen complications and flaws."
"Besides, Voldemort's wealth is still hidden in the underground storeroom at Malfoy Manor, isn't it? The significance of that wealth is beyond anything you can imagine."
"Unfortunately, you can't bring it out openly, nor would you dare."
