Severus Snape Was Hostile Toward Me

A small cabin stood at the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Harry received a letter from Hagrid that morning, inviting him over.

Harry agreed without hesitation. Besides, he needed to vent properly to Hagrid about everything that had happened lately.

So Harry brought Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger to the cabin.

A crossbow and a pair of enormous rubber boots sat outside the cabin door.

"Whoa, Harry, these boots are huge, but they stink!"

Seeing the huge boots, Ron curiously stepped forward to inspect them, only to have the stench make his face wrinkle into that of an old man.

At that moment, Ron looked frighteningly ugly.

Harry and Hermione Granger burst out laughing. It also eased and vented some of Harry's gloom after Severus Snape had mocked him and deducted points in Potions class.

"Woof, woof, woof!"

Barking came from inside the cabin, drawing the attention of all three of them.

Harry stepped forward, knocked on the door, and called, "Hagrid, it's Harry."

Hagrid's voice came from inside the cabin. "Back up, Fang."

"That's it. Stay still like a good boy!"

Hagrid opened the door, revealing his huge, bearded face. Then he smiled. "Harry, you finally made it!"

"Oh, you brought two friends with you too."

The three of them walked inside and immediately saw a large black dog Hagrid was holding tightly by the leash.

Ron jumped in fright and hurried behind Harry. His squinting eyes widened again as he said, "Wow, what a huge dog!"

Hermione did not seem afraid when she saw Fang. Instead, she calmly glanced at him and said, "He looks enormous, but he is definitely a cowardly dog."

"Why?" Ron asked in confusion.

"Because he looks fierce, but his voice and behavior are trembling," Hermione said confidently.

As she spoke, Hermione walked toward Fang and made a face that she thought looked fierce but was actually rather cute.

Then, before everyone's eyes, Fang suddenly leaped behind Hagrid and hid at his feet, not daring to look at Hermione.

Hermione giggled, crossed her arms over her chest, and said, "See? Isn't he a complete coward?"

Harry and Ron stared at the trembling Fang, finding it incredibly unbelievable.

This dog was such a wimp!

Hagrid looked awkward and embarrassed, and for some reason, he felt a little disgusted with Fang.

I knew you were a little timid, but you're making your master lose far too much face. How could you be frightened by such a cute little girl?

"Fang, you're not getting any meat today!"

With a disgusted look, Hagrid grabbed Fang and drove him out to the doorway.

The cabin had only one room. Compared to Hagrid, it was truly tiny and even felt cramped.

Hams and pheasants hung from the ceiling, while a copper kettle boiled water over the fire.

A large bed stood in the corner, covered with a patchwork quilt sewn from scraps of cloth.

Harry was somewhat stunned by the sight.

He knew Hagrid was not one to care about appearances, but he had not expected Hagrid to live so frugally.

For a moment, Harry felt a little sorry for Hagrid. His gaze softened, carrying more trust in his friend.

Harry introduced his two friends to Hagrid. "Hagrid, this is Hermione, and this is Ron, my good friend."

Hagrid poured the boiling water into a large teapot, then placed several Rock Cakes on a plate.

"Red hair, freckles... you're one of the Weasley kids?"

"How are Fred and George related to you?"

"That pair of twins is simply unbearable. They're always sneaking into the Forbidden Forest, forcing me to spend a great deal of effort driving them out."

When Hagrid saw Ron, he thought of Fred and George. He looked at Ron with disdain and continued complaining.

At this, Ron wore a mischievous grin and said, "Hagrid, they're my brothers. Of course, if you can, I wouldn't mind if you gave their bottoms a good whack with a frying pan. They'd learn their lesson."

"At least, that's how my mum teaches them a lesson."

Hearing this, Harry looked at Ron and laughed. "Hey, Ron, has your mum hit you like that too?"

An embarrassed expression appeared on Ron's face. That was not a memory he wanted to revisit.

"Wow, these Rock Cakes are far too hard. I feel like my teeth are going to fall out."

Hermione looked curiously at the Rock Cakes Hagrid had put out. She picked one up and squeezed it, her eyes widening before she opened her mouth and bit down.

In an instant, Hermione felt despair.

Her teeth hurt terribly!

"These are definitely the hardest Rock Cakes I've ever eaten."

"Even if you put them back in a frying pan and cooked them again, they'd be tastier and softer than this."

Hearing this, Harry and Ron looked at the Rock Cakes on the table and curiously tried them as well.

The result was...

Seeing Harry and the others clutching their cheeks, Hagrid was immensely embarrassed. As a half-giant, his teeth were extremely strong. The chewy Rock Cakes that seemed quite good to him were nothing but stones to three normal human children like Harry and the others.

Seeing Hagrid's awkward expression, Harry quickly changed the subject and told him about what had happened in class over the past few days.

When they heard Hagrid refer to Argus Filch, that gloomy and overbearing-looking man, as "that old useless fool," Harry and the others laughed without restraint.

After all, Filch was Hogwarts' caretaker. He was bad-tempered and unpleasant, and his favorite pastime was making trouble for students.

Filch also had a cat named Mrs Norris. She was as irritating as Filch himself and seemed to be everywhere.

Harry also told Hagrid about what had happened in Severus Snape's class.

"Harry, you don't need to worry at all. He just has a rather peculiar personality. As long as you don't do anything bad, there's nothing he can do to you," Hagrid said, reassuring him.

Harry touched the scar on his forehead and said seriously, "But I have a feeling that he really hates me."

"On the day of the welcome feast, when he looked at me, my head hurt terribly."

Hagrid smiled slightly and said, "Harry, you must have imagined it. Why would he hate you?"

After saying that, Hagrid took a drink of water, looked at Ron, and smiled. "How is your brother Charlie? I like him a lot. He's kind to animals and very capable too."

"Oh, he's doing well. He's studying Fire Dragons," Ron replied with a smile.

Hearing that, Hagrid laughed heartily. "Good heavens, he's studying Fire Dragons! Do you know how much I wish I could raise one?"

As Harry watched Hagrid talk with Ron, he always felt that Hagrid was deliberately avoiding him and did not want to continue discussing Severus Snape.

Harry could not understand why, but there was one thing he was absolutely certain about: when Severus Snape had looked at him, his head had truly hurt.

There was no way he could be wrong about that.

Severus Snape was targeting him. He was full of hostility toward him.
