"Have you managed to make that thing yet?"

What were those looks on their faces?

Watching Draco Malfoy and Hagrid exchange decidedly wicked looks, Harry and the others glanced at one another in confusion.

"When did those two get so close?" Ron Weasley couldn't help asking.

"They've never really been on bad terms," Harry said beside him. "I remember Malfoy giving Hagrid all sorts of strange things in the Small World, and Hagrid absolutely loved them."

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger exchanged a glance and shuddered.

They could already imagine it: Malfoy must have produced something disgusting that crossed species boundaries, leaving Hagrid to bring a new generation of fantastic beasts into the world.

Take the textbooks they were holding, for instance. Were they actually textbooks, or fantastic beasts?

"I've made a lot of progress. Give it a little more time, and you'll get to see an amazing new species," Hagrid said with a smug, wicked grin.

Draco Malfoy's eyes lit up again at that. Rubbing his hands together, he smiled and said, "Please make sure you tell me the moment you succeed."

"No problem. You definitely won't be disappointed." Hagrid stroked his beard and laughed.

After laughing, Hagrid remembered what he was supposed to be doing. He composed himself and addressed the group. "Today, I'm going to show you something that'll really open your eyes. It's another amazing new species, one you've never seen or heard of before."

"Unless, of course, you've read the textbooks you're holding. There are brand-new species in there."

"And the most important thing is, I created these creatures myself! Ha ha ha!"

Seeing Hagrid's proud smile, Harry smiled a little too.

Mostly, though, he felt a growing sense of anticipation.

To be honest, he hadn't read the book
