Chapter 103
When Li Wenchuan woke up, it was already broad daylight. He was alone in the empty house.
A vase of pink balloon flowers sat by the bed, cut from Jiang Hansheng's garden. That man had everything in his courtyard. When Jiang Hansheng left, the flowers had still been buds, but now they were in full bloom, and some of the earlier blossoms were already beginning to wilt.
Li Wenchuan felt a little bitter. Even the flowers were reminding him that Jiang Hansheng had gone away on a long trip.
He picked up his phone, and it vibrated. A low-battery warning immediately popped up: only 5% remained.
"It was fully charged before I went to sleep," Li Wenchuan muttered. Even with a video call, it shouldn't have drained this much... Wait, he seemed to have fallen asleep during the call last night.
When he opened WeChat, he saw that the call had lasted nine hours and forty-five minutes. That meant Jiang Hansheng had not hung up until around six-thirty in the morning.
Li Wenchuan touched his face, feeling a little embarrassed.
"Rest well these next few days. You were even lightly snoring in your sleep last night, like a cat."
"I'm hanging up. I have to hand in my phone, so I might not be able to reply if you message me afterward."
Those were the messages Jiang Hansheng had sent. Li Wenchuan buried his whole face in the blanket. This was beyond embarrassing. Luckily, he had not drooled in his sleep, or that would have been truly disastrous.
But he could not contact Jiang Hansheng now. Li Wenchuan felt a little down. Thinking of that long video call last night, he felt vaguely unsettled, as though something had been added to his heart, yet something was still missing.
