The Drawing Challenge and Lodging Penalty

Tang confidently claims that he once drew the Mona Lisa while competing for online red packets. During the back-drawing game, however, he misinterprets Zhao Shiyao’s drawing of a little girl and produces a distorted turtle instead. 21 22 23

His team’s failure assigns him and Zhao to an old rural house. Tang is frightened by the living conditions and mice, clings to Li Wenchuan when a cat appears, and later discovers that the elderly owner actually lives in a nearby villa. 23

Conflict with Zhao Shiyao

Tang and Zhao’s partnership collapses while cooking with a wood-burning stove. Tang believes Zhao has failed to complete her assigned work, while Zhao blames him for the thick smoke; their argument turns into direct attacks on each other’s careers and appearances. 25

The following morning, Tang arrives alone and announces that Zhao will not participate. His frustration is evident in his decision to address her by her full name rather than “Sister Shiyao.” 26

Fusang Dreamscape: Palace Wall Phantom

In the Fusang Dreamscape scenario, Tang draws the identity of the Emperor and exuberantly declares himself the “Burning Emperor.” His excitement vanishes when he realizes Jiang Hansheng has drawn the Emperor’s Worthy Consort while Li Wenchuan is the Virtuous Consort. 257

Left to search alone due to the other players’ alliances, Tang voices his loneliness but continues aggressively seeking clues. 258 He hides in flowerbeds, accidentally terrifies the production crew and other guests, smuggles in a flashlight, falls into a well, and eventually discovers Bai Lu and Ren Chuchu in the hidden passage. 259

Tang is ultimately eliminated when Li Wenchuan persuades the female ghost to recognize the Emperor’s responsibility for her suffering. He is bewildered that he loses without a direct confrontation and is told that he should learn “masculine virtue.” 261
