Background / History
Jiang Jiang serves in the Hua'an County Guard but openly despises its corrupt members. When Commander Guan Zhou assigns her and Chen Hao to pursue the killer of several County Guards, she initially argues that the dead guards were scum and demands that Guan Zhou purge the Guard's own “vermin.” She nevertheless accepts the assignment and directs Reserve County Guards to locate the suspects. 23
During the pursuit, Jiang Jiang and Chen Hao track Zhou Ming to a riverside. Although his Blood Qi AK-47 gives her an immediate sense of fatal danger, she remains curious rather than retreating. After learning that he killed corrupt guards, she insists that this does not prevent her from becoming his friend; she and Chen Hao later offer him the Martial Examination as a possible route out of Sky Patrol's pursuit. 26 27
When Zhou Ming returns to Hua'an County under the altered identity of Zhou Yuxi, Jiang Jiang immediately suspects him. She repeatedly tries to verify his face by touch and eventually provides a Seventh-Rank cultivation technique as the price of allowing Lu Hao to examine him. Witnessing Zhou Yuxi break through in a single breath changes her attitude, and she apologizes for her earlier hostility. 30 31
She accompanies Zhou Yuxi to Qing Prefecture City with Lu Hao, Li Mu, and other County Guard companions. Her certainty that Zhou Yuxi is Zhou Ming becomes emotionally painful; while drunk, she confronts him about refusing to acknowledge his identity. Zhou Ming later confirms the truth to her by voice transmission. 32 34 36
After Zhou Ming uses spirits to remove her Turbid Qi, Jiang Jiang's innate talent and constitution change dramatically. She becomes intensely focused on cultivation, then openly kisses Zhou Ming after demonstrating her accelerated Bone Tempering progress. 40 41
Jiang Jiang eventually learns of Zhou Ming's relationship with Wen Ruoxi. Though briefly affected by the meeting, she accepts the situation with an open smile and chooses to depart for the borderlands with General Yang's group. 39 140 141
Appearance
Jiang Jiang is described with willow brows, lively eyes, and a slender build. She is often dressed as a martial artist; when Zhou Ming meets her again in Hua'an County, she wears brocade robes and carries weapons at her waist. Her irreverence does not mean she lacks principles. She is disgusted by County Guard corruption, treats Sister-in-law Wang and her daughter warmly, and distinguishes between the institution's abusive guards and people such as herself who still try to uphold its purpose. 23
She is stubborn about her feelings and refuses to deny them merely because Zhou Ming may not return them. Once she decides that she likes him, she considers his response his own business. 36
