At Blackgate Prison, Deadshot Lawton leaned over a desk, pen in hand as he signed his parole papers. Amid the cheerful atmosphere of the guards, this escape-obsessed maniac was finally getting the hell out.
Mainly because Miao Mu had handed them all red envelopes. Otherwise, Lawton's escape attempts alone would have been enough to keep him here for half his life.
After changing into a thin set of clothes, Lawton threw his prison uniform onto the floor and stomped on it hard. Then he followed the guards outside, passing prisoners behind iron bars.
Watching Deadshot leave, every one of them stretched their arms through the bars like zombies, wanting him to stay. Seeing someone else walk out of this place hurt more than having several more years added to their own sentences.
Outside Blackgate Prison, Miao Mu stood beside a police car with a cigarette in his mouth. He watched the iron gates slowly open as the bald-headed Deadshot Lawton walked out.
Lawton came to Miao Mu's car, tugged at the corner of his mouth, and stared into the distance. This was pretty awkward. He did not like owing people favors.
"Got anyone you need killed? I'll do it for free!"
It was the most sincere repayment Deadshot could think of, as long as he was not facing someone invulnerable to blades and bullets like Superman.
He could handle anyone else. Losing to Batman had been entirely due to carelessness. That despicable local bat had no sense of fair play!
"Kill someone? Look at this." Miao Mu looked Deadshot up and down, then poked the police badge on his chest.
"I'm a fucking cop! You're talking about killing people in front of me? Want me to drag you right back inside?"
"No." Lawton hurriedly shook his head.
"Come on, let's
