At night, Gotham was a bottomless cradle of evil—and someone's hunting ground. Patrol airships passed overhead, their searchlights sweeping the streets below.
Perched atop a rooftop gargoyle, Batman concealed himself beneath his cape and surveyed the buildings across the city from above.
For the past few days, he had been searching for news of Joker, but all he had found was scant information.
Only a group calling themselves the Joker Gang had been seen around Adams Port. Other than that, there was only the bombing at the Roman's company, which was said to have been Joker's work.
The information was a complete mess, with rumors spreading everywhere, yet no one dared say the Roman was getting old and could no longer keep control.
Beep, beep, beep. An alert sounded through Batman's radio earpiece. He lifted his cape and looked at the miniature computer on the back of his hand.
It was an alarm signal from one of the security cameras he had placed around Gotham. The location was Gotham Old Town, at a newly opened jewelry store. A customer had come calling in the middle of the night.
The camera had captured only a blurred shadow, but Batman still recognized who it was: Gotham City's recently famous master thief, Catwoman!
Some said she was a woman. Some said she was a witch who could turn into a cat, or even a cat demon. She always managed to steal whatever she wanted without anyone noticing.
No one had truly seen her yet. One of Gotham City's tabloid papers was even willing to pay five thousand dollars for photographs of Catwoman in action.
After all, the combination of woman and master thief was enough to stir people's imaginations, especially with the word cat added to the mix.
