Lyon turned his head and saw a three-meter-tall figure walking toward them in the distance.
"Hagrid?"
"Lyon, I heard someone was giving you trouble in the common room?"
Hagrid wore a battered old hunter's outfit, with a sack hanging from his waist. He looked at Lyon with concern.
"It's fine. It's already been handled."
After Lyon spoke, Hagrid suspiciously looked him over from head to toe. Only after seeing that he had no injuries did he ask in confusion.
"I just heard from the Slytherin students that dozens of people were going to teach you a lesson. I even told Professor Snape about it. I didn't expect you to be completely fine."
Little Hermione excitedly began telling Hagrid what had just happened.
"Hagrid, you didn't see it! Lyon used a Fiendfyre Curse and a Fire Shield, and he scared all the second- and third-year students stiff..."
Only after listening to Hermione's account did Hagrid understand. He stared at Lyon in a daze.
As they chatted, several dark shapes suddenly appeared in the distant sky within Lyon's field of vision.
He instinctively raised his wand. Even though this was Hogwarts, he could not guarantee that it was absolutely safe.
But after seeing what they were, Lyon relaxed.
They were Thestrals.
Noticing where Lyon was looking, Hagrid and Hermione followed his gaze. Hagrid laughed twice, while Hermione saw nothing at all.
"Those are Thestrals, Hermione."
Lyon murmured softly as the Thestrals flew closer.
There were around a dozen of them. Their withered-looking bodies beat their wings with tremendous strength. Several Thestrals came up to Lyon, gently bit his sleeves, and tugged at them.
"They really like you, Lyon."
"Normally, Thestrals shouldn't be this willing to approach humans. I never expected the whole herd not to reject you. How did you do it?"
Hagrid gazed at the dozen or so Thestrals in fascination. A few had even come over beside Hagrid and Hermione.
Hermione only felt something tugging at her clothes, but she could not see anything. Seeing this, Lyon took her hand and placed it on a Thestral's head.
Little Hermione let out a delighted laugh and tremblingly stroked the Thestral's head, while the other Thestrals gathered around Lyon.
Lyon gently stroked a Thestral's face. This was probably due to his Magical Creature Affinity talent, but its effect was far stronger than he had expected.
Looking at the Thestrals before him, a plan suddenly surfaced in Lyon's mind.
Billywigs, fire dragons, Thestrals, and so on—if he could obtain enough magical creatures, could he form an army of magical creatures?
It seemed like it might work.
Besides, after spending this time with them, he had come to like these magical creatures as well.
After soothing the Thestrals for a while, Hagrid said he wanted to show Lyon something, and the three headed toward Hagrid's hut.
"Fang, move aside."
Hagrid opened the hut door and nudged a large yellow dog out of the way with his foot. Upon seeing Lyon, the dog came to his feet and licked his shoes.
"Lyon, Hermione, come in." Hagrid's voice was somewhat restrained.
Lyon was a Slytherin student, and Slytherin students were generally rather arrogant.
Although Lyon had always been very friendly toward him, Hagrid was still worried that Lyon might look down on his hut.
But to Hagrid's surprise, Lyon showed no disdain at all. He naturally sat down on a stone stool in the hut, and Hermione did the same beside him.
Upon entering, Lyon found that the hut was only around a dozen square meters in size, yet it was full of the warmth of everyday life. There were also piles of magical creature materials in the corner.
Thestral tail feathers, unicorn hair, spider venom, and more. Each one would have been priceless outside, but Lyon did not pay them much attention.
This was his first visit to Hagrid's hut. If he suddenly brought up money, he would likely leave Hagrid with the impression that he was greedy.
Besides, Lyon was not short on money now. At most, these things would be used for potions, alchemy, and the like in his hands.
"Lyon, Hermione, do you know what I bought a few days ago?"
Hagrid closed the door. It was already night, and Hogwarts was getting colder by the day. As he spoke, Hagrid lit the stove beside them, and the firewood inside began crackling as it burned.
"What did you buy?" Little Hermione asked curiously, while Lyon had actually already guessed what Hagrid was talking about.
A fire dragon egg.
According to the original story, Hagrid should have bought the dragon egg from Voldemort at the Hog's Head Inn.
As his thoughts wandered, Hagrid had already mysteriously drawn all the curtains in the hut.
In the darkness, Hagrid furtively took out a black dragon egg about the size of a human head from the fireplace and gently placed it on the table.
Little Hermione's eyes widened in disbelief. She stared at the dragon egg for a long while, then looked at Hagrid.
"Hagrid, is that a dragon egg? You know that privately raising fire dragons is illegal!"
Hermione was somewhat nervous, but Hagrid raised a finger to his lips and shushed her.
"I know. It's just a kind of... you know, it's nothing..."
Hagrid mumbled for a while, then looked admiringly at the dragon egg on the table.
"Just look at it. What a beautiful dragon egg..."
"I've decided to give him a name. I'll call him Norbert."
"How can you be sure it's male?" Little Hermione frowned. She still could not accept something so illegal.
"I can tell." Hagrid sounded as though he knew exactly what he was talking about, while Lyon fell into thought as he looked at the dragon egg.
"It is beautiful. By the way, Hagrid, I read in a book that some eggs are white with golden patterns on them. What kind of egg is that?"
Lyon asked, and Hagrid frowned. "How could a dragon egg have golden patterns? You must have seen it wrong."
"No, wait. There actually is a kind of dragon egg with golden patterns."
As though he had suddenly remembered something, Hagrid rummaged through his bookcase and pulled out a book.
Types of Fire Dragons in Britain and Ireland
"You might be talking about Elder Fire Dragons. Those things disappeared long ago. You can only read about them in books."
As he spoke, Hagrid opened the book and found a passage describing Elder Fire Dragons.
Lyon's pupils contracted at his words, and he was somewhat dumbfounded.
What was going on?
Elder Fire Dragons?
He had thought this dragon egg was merely an ordinary dragon egg. He had not expected it to have such an extraordinary origin.
By magical creature standards, his Billywig had possessed magical power at level fifteen the moment it hatched. Then what about this fire dragon?
Fire dragons were much more powerful than ordinary magical creatures like Billywigs.
What level would its magical power reach?
"Then how should this kind of dragon egg be incubated?" Lyon asked. Hagrid frowned.
"Elder Fire Dragons went extinct as early as the sixth century. Why are you asking that?"
As he spoke, Hagrid carelessly waved his hand and took several bottles of Butterbeer from the cabinet behind him.
But Lyon's mind was not on the Butterbeer. His eyes flickered as he roughly found a direction to pursue.
He needed to go to the library and look around. He should find something there.
