Background / History

Mordo is one of Kamar-Taj’s senior masters and a direct disciple of the Ancient One. He is regarded as her most trusted right hand and, after the Ancient One herself, one of Kamar-Taj’s foremost teachers. He has trained numerous students, including Stephen Strange. 29 31

Following Kaecilius’s betrayal, Mordo joins Wong, Hamir, and Yacolet in questioning Zhao Yu—the last apprentice known to have spent time with Kaecilius. He handles the inquiry gently, frames it as routine, and urges the masters to determine the cause of the betrayal before the Ancient One returns. 29

After Zhao Yu’s Chaos Orb damages both the Mirror Dimension and Kamar-Taj, the masters transfer Zhao Yu’s instruction to Mordo because of Zhao Yu’s exceptional magical sensitivity. Mordo accepts the responsibility and warns Zhao Yu not to let his unusual ability go unused. 31
