Erbi Mengbilia put on an air of complete confidence for Mordo, hoping to fool the famously meticulous Temple Mage and get him to leave quickly. In truth, he was panicking inside, terrified that Mordo would notice something unusual and see through his intention to kill Chen Xu.

Erbi Mengbilia silently watched Mordo, while Mordo watched Erbi Mengbilia. After the two stared at each other for a while, Mordo broke the awkward silence first.

"Then, I still have things to do. Be careful with the Sanctum. If you need any help, call me."

"Oh, all right, Mage Mordo."

Afterward, Erbi Mengbilia forced himself to remain calm as he activated the magical teleportation array leading to the Sanctum under his protection.

Without looking back, Mage Mordo headed toward the magical teleportation array leading to the Sanctum of the Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One.

The moment Erbi Mengbilia returned to the Sanctum he guarded, he let out a long sigh of relief. He was not afraid of Mordo discovering him, but of Ancient One noticing something amiss and discovering that he had already joined Dormammu, ruler of the Dark Dimension. If that happened, he would truly be finished. His long years of forbearance and planning would all come to nothing, and he himself would be doomed beyond redemption.

"My lord, what is wrong?"

"Nothing."

Erbi Mengbilia looked in Kamar-Taj's direction, a cold smile curling at the corner of his lips.

Inside the Sanctum of the Sorcerer Supreme, Ancient One, Mage Mordo was recounting Chen Xu's situation and request to Ancient One.

"Master, what do you think of Chen Xu's request?"

"I approve. Let him go."

Mordo froze. He had never expected Ancient One to agree so readily. He had thought he would need to spend quite some effort persuading him.

Still, Mordo could not help feeling worried.

"But he has only been at Kamar-Taj for a few months?"

"There is no need to worry. In fact, I have been observing him all along. He is fully capable."

"You should have seen it during the assessment when he helped Dina and the others. He is entirely qualified to become a Temple Mage. Taking the Temple Mage assessment will pose no difficulty for him."
