The One Who Infiltrated the Forbidden Forest

Xilisi seemed to understand Xiwen's words, and a look of relief flashed through her eyes.

She took two steps back, then turned and slowly walked deeper into the Forbidden Forest.

Professor Kettleburn and Xiwen stood where they were and waved goodbye to her. Even Little Cat, who had just jumped down from her back, raised a paw and bid her a sorrowful farewell.

The Unicorn kept looking back at the two people and the cat. After taking a few steps, she even circled back to rub against Xiwen's arm before once again heading deeper into the Forbidden Forest.

"What an emotional magical creature!" Professor Kettleburn wiped at the corner of his eye and said movingly. "Once they recognize you, they cannot bear to part from you."

Xiwen watched Xilisi's behavior—she stamped her hoof anxiously, looked back at Xiwen and the others, then looked deeper into the Forbidden Forest and tossed her head in that direction, as though signaling something.

"Professor, is it possible that she wants us to follow her?" Xiwen asked, stroking his chin.

Professor Kettleburn: "..."

So was I moved for nothing?

Xiwen picked up Little Cat and followed Unicorn Xilisi together with Professor Kettleburn.

The facts proved that Xilisi really did intend to take them somewhere. She kept moving deeper into the Forbidden Forest without stopping.

After climbing over countless thick, tangled roots and obstructing vines, the surroundings grew darker and darker, while the fog became thicker and thicker. They seemed to have reached a place far from the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest.

There was almost no such thing as a path here. Xilisi leaped lightly and nimbly over one complicated obstacle after another. "Professor, are you still familiar with such a deep part of the Forbidden Forest?" After casting another Severing Charm, Xiwen panted as he looked at the professor nearby, whose figure was blurred by the fog, and asked worriedly.

The professor did not look particularly relaxed either, but he forced himself to remain calm. "More or less. A Unicorn would not harm us, so relax!"

After another half hour of walking, Xilisi stopped and gave a soft neigh.

Professor Kettleburn immediately noticed something strange.

"There are traces of human activity nearby!" the professor said gravely.

"What?" Xiwen looked at him in surprise.

"Look here. The cuts on these vines are far too neat. They look more like they were caused by a Severing Charm." He pointed out a patch of severed vines ahead of them. "And there are footprints on the ground. They are not very obvious, but you can still tell that they are human footprints."

Xiwen's expression turned grave as well. He asked incredulously, "So someone really infiltrated the Forbidden Forest?"

"I am afraid so!" The professor nodded heavily.

Then he took a compass from his pocket and handed it to Xiwen. "Xiwen, you are only a first-year student. You should not be involved in something this dangerous."

"Take this compass and walk southwest. There is no major danger along the way, and I believe you can return to the castle safely. Once you get there, immediately find the other professors and bring them here. Understood?"

Xiwen's mouth fell open. "Professor, do not tell me you intend to deal with those intruders alone?"

"I will be careful." Professor Kettleburn shook his head. "Enough talking. Hurry up and go!"

At that moment, Xilisi suddenly pressed her forehead anxiously against Xiwen's shoulder, trying to push him toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

At the same time, a shout came from the distance.

"Who is there?"

Professor Kettleburn's expression changed. He immediately shut the lantern's cover, extinguishing the light in his hand. Xiwen also snuffed out the glow at the tip of his wand.

The surroundings instantly plunged into darkness. Only the Unicorn's body gave off a faint glow, along with the dim light held by the person who had infiltrated the Forbidden Forest in the distance.

"Go!" Professor Kettleburn's voice was low, but extremely stern.

Gritting his teeth, Xiwen placed Little Cat in his arms onto Unicorn Xilisi's back. He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Xilisi, help me take Little Cat back, all right?"

Xilisi reluctantly rubbed against Xiwen's cheek. After hesitating for a moment, she finally turned and ran toward the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest.

Little Cat on her back seemed not to understand what had happened. She lay adorably on Xilisi's back, watching Xiwen gradually recede into the distance...

"What are you trying to do?" Seeing Xiwen's actions, Professor Kettleburn froze. He could barely suppress his voice and nearly shouted. "Staying here with me is courting death!"

"I know what I am doing, Professor." Xiwen had already calmed down and spoke evenly.

At that moment, inside the castle dungeons, a ghost with black hair and black eyes, holding a thick leather-bound book, suddenly spoke to the ghostly lady standing prettily beside him and watching him. "Helena, help me notify Professor Dumbledore."

"Something happened to Xiwen. He is in the Forbidden Forest!"

Then he closed his eyes.

At the same time, Young Wizard Xiwen in the Forbidden Forest opened his eyes. He gathered all his focus and was ready to act.

Xiwen did not think his actions were reckless. He possessed the Kamar-Taj spell system, which no one in this world knew about. Few people, perhaps no one at all, would immediately think of a targeted countermeasure. If he caught them off guard, it might prove immensely useful.

As the footsteps drew closer and closer, the distant source of light became increasingly distinct.

Professor Kettleburn no longer had time to say anything to Xiwen. He stood up, raised his wand, and suddenly fired a red beam toward the light.

"I'll hold them off. Run!" he shouted.

Xiwen looked at Professor Kettleburn with some emotion, but he did not obey him.

"Stupefy!"

Xiwen followed suit and fired a Stunning Spell toward the source of light.

Their opponent reacted quickly, blocking both attacks with a Shield Charm before returning fire with a dazzling green light.

"Damn it, they are black wizards with no scruples!" Professor Kettleburn cursed as he ducked behind a large tree.

He looked at Xiwen and said fiercely, "Take care of yourself, you little brat!"

Then the professor rushed out from cover and began fighting the black wizard fiercely.

Hiding behind another tree, Xiwen secretly calculated the time. He figured that Dumbledore should have reached the open lawn by now and would be able to easily see a signal above the Forbidden Forest.

So he murmured an incantation. "Ruddy Sparkle."

Mist-like red light continuously poured from the tip of Xiwen's wand.

Seeing this, he chanted another incantation. "Ascendio!"

The red light instantly shot into the sky and burst into a bright firework.

"Fuck!" Seeing this, the black wizard, whose face was concealed beneath a black hood, spat out a vicious curse. He fired a sharp spell toward Xiwen's position.

However, Professor Kettleburn, who had spent years dealing with all kinds of dangerous magical creatures, was not so easily dismissed. With a flick of his wand, he effortlessly blocked the black wizard's spell.

"Bastard, I am your opponent!" The professor wore a fierce expression as he roared at the black wizard.

As the two continued exchanging blows, the black wizard was gradually suppressed by Professor Kettleburn and seemed likely to lose at any moment.

"Are you still not going to make a move?" he shouted miserably.

Professor Kettleburn was suddenly startled and tried to turn toward another direction.

A voice abruptly came from the side of the two battling wizards.

"Expelliarmus!"
