The platform of the Thunder Temple reeked of scorched circuitry and lingering smoke. Cracks covered the once-magnificent complex, and exposed energy conduits spat unstable arcs of electricity. Forcing the Leyline Energy Core to overload and explode had dealt the temple a devastating blow. Only time and painstaking repairs could restore its former power.
Lin Ye sat cross-legged on a relatively intact patch of ground, faint lightning coiling around him. He drove his [chaos thunder body] at full power, absorbing cosmic radiation and the free energy lingering in the surrounding space to heal his injuries and replenish his nearly exhausted reserves. His brief clash with the Shadows of Oblivion squad had been far more dangerous than any of his previous battles. That uncanny Stasis Field had nearly left him with no way out, and detonating the leyline at the end had hurt him almost as badly as his enemies. Had the Ancient One not arrived in time to disrupt their teleportation, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
The Ancient One had not left. She hovered nearby, forming seals with her hands and sending gentle golden magic circles into the temple's damaged core to temporarily stabilize its failing energy circulation and prevent further deterioration. Her face was still rather pale. Forcibly anchoring the dimension to interfere with the forced teleportation had taken an enormous toll on her as well.
"The remnants of the Stasis Field have been cleared, and the leyline is stable for now, but the energy core is badly damaged. Repairs will take time and a large quantity of rare materials," The Ancient One told Lin Ye as she finished casting.
Lin Ye slowly opened his eyes. The lightning within them had receded, but a trace of cold killing intent had taken its place. "That's fine. We can repair the
