"Now it was up to us?"
Zhang Yang looked at Harry and Mera. "Was he often like this?"
"Mm..."
Harry and Mera gave Zhang Yang helpless looks.
"Well... all right."
Zhang Yang rubbed his temples. He vaguely felt that what had just happened seemed strangely familiar.
After closing his eyes and thinking back for a moment, Zhang Yang's expression turned a little peculiar.
"Let's follow John Constantine's advice and go to Officer Angela's home first."
Zhang Yang's suggestion was met with Harry and Mera's approval. After asking for Officer Angela's home address, the three of them left the police station.
What they failed to notice was that inside the station, a man in a crisp, expensive light-gray suit was idly flipping a coin in his hand as he watched them coldly.
Once they had completely left the station, he picked up his phone and dialed a number.
"They... have gone out."
Kamar-Taj, Ancient One's Sanctum.
For today's meeting, the mentors of several special classes had gathered together in an unprecedented show of unity. John Constantine, who had left the police station earlier, looked at the projected image and said worriedly, "Is this really all right? Letting those children face something like this?"
"Children?"
Kaecilius shook his head with disdain. "Take a look at who they are. Children?"
"Harry Potter defeated that bastard Voldemort when he was little and became famous."
"Mera is the most gifted child of Atlantis. She has an innate affinity for the laws of water and has been chosen as the future Queen of Atlantis!"
When it came to Zhang Yang, Kaecilius paused unusually before saying, "As for Zhang Yang... he's a monster. No comment."
Frigga, Queen of Asgard, said softly, "We should believe they can do it. Even if they can't, aren't we here?"
As she spoke, Frigga turned to look at Lucifer, whose face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. "Right, Lucifer?"
"What a rotten brat!"
Lucifer's face darkened as though he wanted nothing more than to charge into Hell and hang a certain little bastard up for three days and three nights. "He actually reached an agreement with Heaven... and he even found the Spear of Destiny. How dissatisfied with me is he?"
"Speaking of which..."
The final mentor of the special class, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore from Hogwarts, spoke up. "Does God in Heaven not know about this?"
"He wants to test our attitude."
Mordo glanced at the silent The Ancient One before speaking. "To see how we handle this."
"Recently, we relaxed the restrictions on ordinary people using themselves as sacrifices for summons, which caused some unnecessary misunderstandings."
Hearing Mordo's words, everyone nodded.
Indeed, for certain reasons, they had loosened the protective barrier somewhat, opening a few channels for those who had fallen into despair to use themselves as sacrifices and summon creatures from other worlds.
These channels had originally been meant to keep people from dying in despair, to let those who committed violence witness its tragic consequences. Yet the lords of other dimensions had seen them as a chance to invade.
They had been driven from their home planet for far too long. They desperately wanted to return, even if it was merely an unremarkable little broken planet.
"That settles it."
In the end, The Ancient One made the final decision. "We must trust these children. As for those dimension lords?"
"I'll pay them a visit myself!"
"Yes!"
"Officer Dawson, are you home?"
Inside Angela Dawson's apartment, Zhang Yang knocked on the door, only to discover that no one was home.
"There's a strange smell."
Mera's nose twitched. "A little like... sulfur? It's a demon!"
"A demon?"
Upon hearing that, Harry immediately raised his hand, preparing to cast a spell.
But faster than his incantation was a fist.
Zhang Yang's fist.
With his complete mastery, he could unleash one hundred percent of his body's strength. Smashing through a door?
It was effortless.
"Help... glug glug glug... help... glug glug glug..."
Broken cries for help came from the bathroom. Zhang Yang and the others exchanged looks. Only after Harry cast a protective spell did they rush over.
When they reached the bathroom, an ugly demon was holding a woman down in a bathtub filled with water, shrieking madly at them.
"This is... a demon's true form?!"
Harry's expression turned ugly. He recognized that the demon before them was neither some projection nor possessing a human body. It was undeniably, unmistakably its true form.
It had come from Hell!
"Even though it's only a demon at the Demon Soldier rank..."
Light flashed across Harry's hands, and two Rings of Raggadorr appeared instantly as he assumed a guarded stance. "It descended in its true form!"
"@!@¥!"
Mera said nothing. She merely silently cast water magic from Atlantis, summoning a giant made of water from the bathtub and sending the demon flying with one punch.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Zhang Yang pulled the woman from the bathtub and returned to the other two.
Roar!
The demon crashed heavily into the wall after being sent flying, yet it was completely unharmed. Instead, several cracks appeared in the wall.
The strength of a demon's true form was clear to see.
"Mera."
Zhang Yang handed the girl in his arms to Mera. After she accepted her instinctively, a longsword burning with sacred flames appeared in his hand. "Die!"
A cold gleam flashed. The demon born in Hellfire was split in two, and the undying sacred flames forcibly burned it to ash.
It was a very environmentally friendly death.
"Vishanti's Sacred Sword?!"
Harry stared at the longsword slowly fading from Zhang Yang's hand, his pupils contracting sharply. "You didn't even chant an incantation—you cast it instantly?"
"That's impossible!"
Mera's beautiful eyes widened as well. "Kamar-Taj's spells are extremely powerful. To cast one instantly... you need at least peak Temple Mage strength..."
"He..."
Mera and Harry looked at each other, both seeing the shock in the other's eyes.
After a week of getting to know him, they had thought they understood their new classmate. But now it seemed... they were far from it!
Temple Mage strength!
Throughout the magical world, Kamar-Taj was regarded as the holy land, and its ranking system was used there as well.
From lowest to highest, they were: Mage Apprentice, Junior Mage, Intermediate Mage, Advanced Mage, Archmage, Mage Mentor, Grand Mage Mentor, Temple Mage, Ultimate Mage (Sorcerer Supreme).
Harry was currently at the Archmage level, still three major ranks away from Temple Mage.
Mera was the same, though she had already touched the threshold of Mage Mentor. She was only one step away from entering the Mage Mentor rank. If she wanted to, she could serve as an instructor at Kamar-Taj.
And Zhang Yang...
The two looked at Zhang Yang as though he were a monster.
"What a monster..."
