Xuan Weizi usually manifest as innumerable dust-fine particles of pale-golden light surrounding or directed by Guiguzi. Their color and form shift with their function, appearing as mist, streams, needles, maps, talismans, or web-like threads. 16 27 32 44

Xuan Weizi were first used as covert surveillance tools, with some already infiltrating Zhang Hao's residence while Lanling King remained deployed. 10 Guiguzi later explained that they were “spiritual mechanisms of heaven and earth” which could be enlightened through a soul-imprinted thread of Xiang Yi's mental power, allowing them to hear information and return it to him. Xiang Yi endured extreme pain to provide that guiding thread, launching the information network. 17

The network became central to operations against The Hand and the Ten Rings Syndicate. It mapped freighter layouts, patrol routes, infrared coverage, energy signatures, and potential infiltration routes for Lanling King and A Ke. 20 28 It also enabled the Shadow Mist bond skill, allowing Guiguzi to disrupt enemies' perception and help Lanling King escape hostile territory. 19 20

During Lanling King's poisoning, Xuan Weizi formed seals around his heart meridians and entered his wound as streams and needle-like particles, slowing the toxin's spread without fully curing it. 27 They continued to be used to suppress corrosive energy in his shoulder, though the suppression was a costly battle of attrition. 24
