Recruitment Voyage

Selenst supervised the voyage carrying prospective apprentices to Riley City. He conducted their talent testing, established the requirement to condense an Astral Star before landfall, and advised candidates to select spells matching their elemental affinities. 2

At the voyage's regular assessment, he verified the candidates who had condensed Magic Starlets and challenged the successful group to learn a spell before reaching land. 8 9

When a Level 3 Abyssal Stalker attacked the ship, Selenst took direct command of the defense. He restrained the creature with Flame Binding Technique and killed it with Flame Spear Technique, though its unexpected fragmentation allowed smaller monsters to enter the lower cabins. 10 22

Li Ang's Promotion

After Li Ang killed two of the smaller sea monsters while saving Helena, Selenst acknowledged his courage and spell control. He promoted Li Ang directly to official wizard apprentice, granting him a gray apprentice robe, Fundamentals of Potioncraft, and quarters on the third deck. 11

Selenst later offered Li Ang mentorship and “conveniences” within Tower rules if Li Ang chose to join his ranks. Li Ang ultimately chose the Potion School instead. 12 16

Arrival at Riley City

Upon reaching Riley City, Selenst determined which candidates could enter the Wizard Tower. Those who had condensed Astral Stars were permitted to continue as reserve apprentices, while unsuccessful candidates could either return home or sign on as Tower attendants. 13

He then escorted the successful youths to the Wizard Tower and introduced the Elemental, Potion, and Astrology Schools as the paths that would shape their future training. 14 15 16

Investigation of the Abyssal Stalker

Selenst reported the anomalous sea-monster attack to Gorman, the Head of the Elemental School. He noted that Abyssal Stalkers had no known precedent for splitting into smaller creatures and suspected possible human interference or mutation-inducing magic. 22
