The sound of something heavy hitting the ground rang out. A huge crater appeared in the earth as Venom Throat leaped straight down from the special spider silk and quickly ran in the direction the two monsters had fled.

As the flames continued to spread, they finally drew the attention of some powerful creatures in the forest. In a gray river not far from the flames, whose waters looked as though they had been polluted with ink, a gray elephant more than ten meters tall drifted out of the river.

The gray elephant's appearance was extraordinarily bizarre. After drifting out of the river, none of the gray water dripped from its body. Instead, its body rapidly absorbed it.

Most of the gray elephant's hide was rotten, exposing the dark red flesh within. Its trunk had turned into octopus tentacles, the dark red tendrils secreting gray-black mucus as they writhed in the air. Where its eyes should have been were two sunken folds, like a pair of caves, with gray-black worms squirming inside them.

A great deal of water gathered beneath its feet. The surging river formed a whirlpool under the elephant, and a column of water gradually lifted it into the sky.

When the intelligent creatures living in the forest saw the elephant, they seemed to have found their savior and hurried toward the river.

These intelligent creatures, all beastlike in appearance, let out waves of strange sounds. If Green had been there, he would have discovered that their language was exactly the same as the unknown language recorded in the books.
