Green and the others in the group continued onward, chatting as they went.
Using his wits, Green gathered more information during their conversation.
At first, Green had planned to read everyone's memories, then blend in with the group and leave with them, reaching the Conventional Part of the Deep Dream World. But after reading two memories in a row, he sensed something out of sync in space and time.
Memories were too closely connected to the soul. Repeatedly reading them through his own high-ranking soul seemed to interfere with the normal workings of time and space.
To avoid being discovered, he had no choice but to rely on the less efficient method of drawing information out of them through conversation.
Hillwin's group had five members in total: four men and one woman.
Aside from their leader, Hillwin, who handled command, the other three men were responsible for defense, assault, reconnaissance, and logistics. The last member, a woman named Remiella Wislocki Kexiya, handled medical care, ranged attacks, and funding.
That's right. The only woman in the group was the third daughter of the richest man in Baiwei Dale Province, a conventional province in the Deep Dream World, and she possessed a great deal of wealth.
In a sense, Kexiya was the most important member of the entire group. Every time the squad was drawn into a Dream Part, they needed her to provide funds and equipment, which increased their chances of survival.
After learning this, Green glanced at the members of the other two groups.
Sure enough, Hillwin's group had noticeably newer and more varied equipment. Even the pack carried by their logistics specialist had a much larger capacity than those of the other groups.
"Kexiya, why don't you hire a more professional team? Wouldn't that improve your chances of survival?"
