The combat wizards strike

Wizard Barbara said, "Let's try going over them."

A pair of wings appeared beneath Wizard Barbara's feet, slowly lifting her into the air.

The next instant, a blast of golden flame shot toward her.

Barbara hurriedly dodged.

Before Barbara could relax after evading it, another blast of golden flame gathered in a Flame Taurus's mouth, ready to fire again.

Wizard Barbara had no choice but to descend slowly.

"This spell can attack airborne targets. We can't fly straight over them. It looks like we'll have to take a detour."

Leo thought for a moment and asked, "Wizard Barbara, would a detour take us farther from the location of the moonflower leaves you know about?"

Barbara said, "Quite a bit farther, but we need to conserve as much mental energy as possible to deal with the wizards from the Wyvern Club."

"Let me think." Leo pondered briefly, then an idea flashed through his mind. "I've got it. We don't necessarily need to break these spells head-on."

Leo pointed a fingertip toward the Flame Taurus herd.

Immediately afterward, saplings sprang up from the ground.

This, too, was an elementalism spell.

As the saplings rose, the Flame Taurus herd happened to charge straight into them.

Upon impact, the Flame Taurus herd immediately grew considerably larger.

Surprise crossed Barbara's face at the sight. "Wizard Leo, has something changed about these Flame Taurus?!"

Leo explained, "Elementalism isn't just about canceling things out. It's also about reinforcing them."

"The spell I just cast can strengthen the Flame Taurus."

"Look. Aren't they getting bigger as they approach the spell I cast?"

Leo pointed at the Flame Taurus herd as he spoke.

Watching the Flame Taurus herd keep growing, Barbara said, "Wizard Leo, won't they be even harder to deal with now that they're so much bigger?"
