The next day.
Leo successfully brewed a high-quality potion.
Although it fell a little short of perfect quality, Leo drank the potion anyway.
His mental radiation level was still far below the danger threshold, and drinking the potion only raised it by a few points.
Rather than pursue perfect quality and avoid any increase in mental radiation, he was better off seizing the time to advance.
As he drank the potion,
Leo's mental energy became active once more.
Already at its threshold, his mental energy broke through smoothly.
After the breakthrough, Leo's mental energy began to surge upward.
After increasing by several points, it slowed.
Once he became a First-Rank Wizard Apprentice, becoming a Formal Wizard required more than mental energy. Most important were the construction of his spell pyramid and Permanent Defensive Force Field.
Each combination spell in his spell pyramid could raise Leo's mental energy threshold by a thousand points.
Once his mental energy reached 9,999 points, constructing a Permanent Defensive Force Field would be the final step toward becoming a Formal Wizard. When the Permanent Defensive Force Field was complete, his mental energy would break through to 10,000, making him a Formal Wizard.
Thinking of the spell pyramid,
Leo recalled the combination spell he had learned from Kyle.
Although this combination spell was recorded in the Codex, Leo could not cast it. He could, however, extract its two component spells.
One was the Flesh Puppet Spell, and the other was the Corpse-Driving Spell.
Both spells, however, were as difficult to learn as Multi-Stage Cutting and Blazing Lava.
Without the aid of corresponding potions, Leo had only mastered them to the third stage, which was not enough to fuse them into a combination spell.
I'll put increasing my mental energy aside for now.
