The Formal Wizard said, "Gentlemen, could I trouble you to come down from the ship and have a few words with me?"

Leo and Hughes exchanged a glance, seeing helplessness in each other's eyes.
The other party was a Formal Wizard. If he truly intended them harm, there was nothing they could do.
Leo gathered up his packed belongings and jumped down with Hughes.
However, the moment the two of them landed on the island, they saw the Formal Wizard suddenly cast a spell.
A plant resembling a trumpet flower, its bud blazing with fire, landed on the ground.
The plant spat a scarlet fruit toward the knight ship.
The fruit shot out at astonishing speed.
It pierced through the knight ship's railing.
Blazing flames erupted across the enormous vessel.
The fire burned fiercely, and in an instant, the entire ship was reduced to ashes.
Hughes was so frightened that he immediately jumped toward the sea.
However, before Hughes could enter the water,
a pulling force came from the Formal Wizard's hand.
Hughes was forcibly dragged back in midair.
The Formal Wizard tossed out a seed.
The seed rapidly took root and sprouted, wrapping Hughes inside.
Arcs of electricity flickered across the grown plant, electrocuting Hughes until he howled.
Hughes shouted, "I surrender! I'm not running anymore! Stop shocking me!"
The Formal Wizard smiled and stretched out his right hand, retrieving the seed.
The Formal Wizard looked at Leo.
Ever since the Formal Wizard had taught Hughes a lesson, Leo had remained standing in place without moving.
The Formal Wizard asked, "What about you? Why didn't you try to escape, or resist a little?"
Leo shook his head and said, "If you wanted to kill us, then whether we ran or not would make no difference."
The Formal Wizard said in surprise, "You are different from ordinary Prossians. You are not so reckless. That is a very good quality."
He gave Leo an approving glance and said with a smile, "Gentlemen, please remain calm. I truly have no intention of being your enemy."
Leo stood where he was, considering the other party's purpose.
Although this Formal Wizard's actions were suspicious, he indeed did not seem to intend to kill them.
If he had wanted to kill Leo and Hughes, he could have killed them both together with the ship. There had been no need to make them disembark before destroying it.
The Prismatic Dragon Scale slid down to Leo's fingertips.
The information transmitted by the Prismatic Dragon Scale was that this Formal Wizard bore no hostility.
The Formal Wizard said with a smile, "First, let me introduce myself. My name is Esmond, and I am a mentor of the Esmond Gathering at the Tower of Dawn."
Leo frowned. Something was very wrong with his current condition. He had clearly heard the man's words, yet the latter half of them became, in his mind, like a chaotic and disorderly musical score that could not be sorted into useful information.
More than that, even Esmond's face appeared vague and indistinct to him, unable to form an image in his mind.
Once his restraints were released, Hughes immediately moved close to Leo.
Leo asked quietly, "Hughes, can you clearly hear what he said afterward?"
"I can hear it clearly, but..." Hughes hesitated.
Leo said, "You can hear it, but you can't understand what it means?"
Hughes nodded fiercely. "Yes, exactly."
Leo pondered briefly, then asked, "Hughes, can you clearly see his face?"
"It feels like an ordinary passerby's face, but also like that of a handsome middle-aged man, yet..." Mentioning Esmond's face, Hughes once again fell into a muddled state.
Leo said, "I feel the same way."
Esmond kept smiling as he watched the two whisper to each other, with no intention of interrupting.
From time to time, his gaze fell upon the badge on Leo's chest.
Whenever it did, joy showed in his eyes.
Esmond said, "I know my actions just now have left you confused, but this is not a place to talk. Why not first accompany me to my residence? We can speak at leisure there."
Leo turned back toward where the knight ship had been moored, but not even the slightest trace remained.
Leo pondered briefly and said, "As you wish, Wizard."
Esmond smiled in satisfaction, then walked ahead.
Leo took a step, preparing to follow.
But Hughes grabbed Leo and said, "Leo, are we really going with him? He destroyed our ship and even taught me a lesson."
Leo felt that, for Hughes, the latter was probably more important.
Leo asked in return, "Do you think we have room to refuse?"
Remembering the helplessness he had felt before Esmond, Hughes gave a bitter smile. "All right. We truly have no room to refuse."
Hughes had just learned firsthand what happened when one defied a Formal Wizard.
Moreover, their ship had now been destroyed, so they could only obediently follow him.
The two followed Esmond's footsteps.
This island was not particularly vast.
Its natural ecosystem was excellent.
Jungle, wild beasts, and...
Leo looked at the mosquito flying back and forth before him.
He activated his mental energy.
The mosquito twisted, then fell to the ground, its original shape completely unrecognizable.
After becoming a Wizard, Leo found Mental Radiation even more effortless to wield.
Hughes beside him had yet to master Mental Radiation. He stretched out his hand, trying to swat the mosquito, but could not hit it no matter what.
Esmond led them before an enormous plant.
The plant resembled a pea pod. It was as tall as a tower, shooting into the clouds, perhaps more than twenty stories high.
Inside the plant was a stairway-like passage that led all the way upward.
Around this enormous plant lay patch after patch of flower fields.
Many different kinds of plants grew in the flower fields.
Prompts from the illustrated handbook appeared one after another in Leo's mind.
"Flame-Spraying Plant discovered. Record it?"
"Discovered..."
Leo's gaze settled on those plants, and his heart stirred.
Without exception, they were all magical plants possessing Magical Pressure.
Esmond arrived beneath the towering plant and climbed upward by the stairs.
Hughes followed cautiously behind him.
Leo, meanwhile, curiously surveyed the surroundings.
There was no prompt from the illustrated handbook for this towering plant. It was likely part of this Formal Wizard's spell.
Each time Leo and Hughes passed a level, they found a small room on that level.
Esmond walked all the way to the top.
There was likewise a cramped little room there.
Inside were a pea-shaped bed, as well as mushroom-shaped tables and chairs.
Esmond entered the room, sat upon a mushroom chair, and smiled at Leo and Hughes.
Leo and Hughes sat down on the mushroom chairs.
The mushroom chairs felt soft and springy. Once Leo sat down, it felt somewhat like sitting on a sofa from his previous life, exceptionally comfortable.
Esmond said, "Gentlemen, let me introduce myself again. My name is Esmond, and I am a mentor of the Esmond Gathering."
Leo frowned.
As Esmond spoke, it was as though something interfered with him. He heard the words, yet completely failed to understand their meaning.
