As they flew swiftly toward the Destiny Empire's interior, Dago discreetly slowed down.
He deliberately fell far behind Jason, and only after making sure their surroundings were safe did he cautiously pose the question in his mind.
"What?"
Alazan's reply carried unmistakable surprise and confusion.
Clearly, the ancient chief wizard had no idea what a terrifying upheaval Dago's soul had undergone the instant he crossed the border.
After all, Alazan's remnant soul had weakened to its absolute limit.
Except when his intervention was needed in matters of life and death, he was forced to spend most of each day in a deep sleep just to sustain his existence.
If Alazan wasn't behind it, then who was?
Dago raised his head slightly, his icy blue eyes peering through the swirling mist at Jason ahead.
Not the slightest flicker of emotion showed on his marble-carved face. Its cold rigidity was terrifying.
But he knew better than anyone that the ancient toll, like a heavy blow against brass, had certainly not been some ridiculous hallucination brought on by travel fatigue.
Even now, his body still distinctly retained that wondrous sensation of his soul having been cleansed by some supreme power!
It felt as though his soul had been immersed in the purest sacred spring.
Even the subtle, troublesome aftereffects of his last forced use of "Reincarnation into Dreams" had diminished by more than half in that brief instant!
He could even faintly sense that his soul's strength had returned to its peak, ready for him to enter a second dream at any moment.

Dago silently rolled the mysterious name between his lips.
He drew a deep breath of frigid air and buried the shock in his eyes and the countless questions in his heart deep within
