The road to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well was not particularly difficult.
Heading north from Shrek City, crossing the outlying ridges of the Heaven Dou Mountains, then turning west for another three hundred li brought them into a primeval forest shrouded in Soul Beasts and poisonous miasma. An invisible barrier lay along its edge, perceptible to anyone with even slightly keen Soul Power senses. It was the region's natural warning line. Farther in, the temperature began to change in strange ways-the left half of their bodies baked in waves of heat while the right half steeped in cold, the boundary between the two running straight down the middle of the path.
For the two of them as they were now, this posed little difficulty.
The ice-blue barrier fell away, and Wu Changkong held Long Bing's hand. The poisonous creatures outside presented little trouble to them. His Heavenly Frost Sword Martial Soul possessed an extreme cold attribute, while Long Bing's Hummingbird leaned toward wind and wood. Their Soul Power intertwined, forming a thin layer of protection around them. Sensing their aura, the venomous insects lurking among roots and rotting leaves retreated. Some burrowed into the earth, others climbed into the canopy. Rustling came from every direction, yet not a single one dared approach.
Standing guard outside was still the same immortal-grade Exquisite Fragrance plant from all those years ago.
Exquisite Fragrance grew beside the stone wall at the entrance to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, her roots sunk into cracks in the rock, her branches and leaves spreading to either side like a half-open door.
Her stalk was translucent, pale cyan liquid flowing within, and the edges of her leaves glimmered faintly. She had spent many years here absorbing the spiritual energy of the Ice and Fire
