Background / History
Tang Wulin first met Gu Yue as a boy while the Golden Dragon King seal stirred within his bloodline. Although the seal had been restless, it inexplicably calmed when he met her eyes. During their three years as classmates, he and Gu Yue developed mutual feelings despite her initial emotional distance and the conflict between their respective destinies. 75
At the final battle in the Far North, Gu Yue Na—then standing as the ruler of soul beasts—allowed Tang Wulin's Golden Dragon Spear to pierce them both. The pair fell into a ten-thousand-meter ice abyss, where seven-colored light preserved their hearts and froze them together for ten thousand years. 75
When the ice finally melted in the new era, Tang Wulin and Gu Yue chose each other over their former positions and obligations. Tang Wulin stated that he would not return to Sea God Pavilion or the Tang Sect, instead pursuing a normal life with her. 75
In their new domestic life, financial pressure led him to set aside forging, despite his talent, and seek security work. He was hired as a surveillance operator, allowing him to contribute to the household income. 9 11 12
Appearance
Tang Wulin is a broad-shouldered man with a narrow waist and thick, short black hair that is frequently left messy after waking up. He usually wears casual home clothes, though Gu Yue can dress him into a neat, formal appearance when required. 1 35 67
- Messy black hair, described as resembling a “bird's nest” after sleep. 1 35
- Broad shoulders and narrow waist, emphasized by his dark-blue formal suit. 67
- Often carries himself with exaggerated confidence or a deliberately pitiful expression during arguments with Gu Yue. 2 4
Personality
Tang Wulin is affectionate, mischievous, and shamelessly theatrical with Gu Yue. He frequently uses teasing, exaggerated complaints, and feigned innocence to get his way, particularly when trying to escape chores or soften her anger. 2 4
He is competitive and easily jealous, whether of Gu Yue's former intern, her success at work, or even objects he sees as rivals for her attention. His insecurity can make him irritable, but it also motivates him to improve himself and seek reassurance from her. 14 24 25 33
Despite his laziness and poor judgment, Tang Wulin is devoted to Gu Yue. He abandons forging when he realizes its toll on his health and their finances, supports her career, helps reactivate their training room, and follows medical instructions closely during her recovery. 9 15 18 52
