After finishing his conversation with Ancient One, Jerry temporarily remained at Kamar-Taj, waiting with her for the situation to develop.
In Ancient One's words, they just needed to let nature take its course.
Although Stephen was currently studying magic at Kamar-Taj, what he still had in mind was returning to his work as a doctor once his hands had fully recovered.
If they wanted him to willingly remain at Kamar-Taj and shoulder the responsibility of the Sorcerer Supreme, then there were many things he needed to experience. Neither Ancient One nor Jerry should interfere.
If they did, things might not achieve their intended effect.
A week later.
In Kamar-Taj's sitting room, Jerry was discussing Time Magic with Ancient One.
Now, having absorbed and comprehended a vast number of laws, and with nothing better to do than discuss magic with Clow Reed in the Ring World, Jerry's understanding of the Time Law had improved tremendously.
If, in the past, their discussions of magic had basically consisted of Ancient One explaining magical principles to him, then now the two of them were genuinely exchanging ideas.
"Master, the London Sanctum has been attacked by Kaecilius. All the defending mages have been killed, the Sanctum's formation has been destroyed, and Stephen has gone missing."
Mordo and Wong, the two mages at Kamar-Taj second only to Ancient One, rushed into the sitting room looking utterly bedraggled.
Ancient One stopped her discussion with Jerry, slowly rose to her feet, and instructed Mordo and Wong.
"Wong, take some people to guard the Hong Kong Sanctum. Mordo, come with me to the London Sanctum and rescue Stephen!"
Then she turned to Jerry.
"My apologies, Mage Carmen. It seems today's discussion must end here. I have to leave first."
