"Hey, it's you!"
Under the warm sunlight, Jerry strolled through the streets of New York in 2004 when a very surprised voice suddenly came from beside him.
Jerry turned to look. It was a young man with a messenger bag slung over his shoulder, looking to be around twenty years old. He wore glasses and had a very scholarly appearance.
"You know me?"
Jerry asked with a smile.
From his aura, he had already identified the young man as the pizza-delivering Spider-Man from yesterday, this world's Peter Parker. However, he did not say so outright.
"I, uh... don't know you. You just look kind of familiar."
Peter had been about to say that he knew him, but then he remembered that when they had first met three days ago, he had been wearing the Spider-Suit and acting as Spider-Man, so he immediately changed his answer.
It was because of Jerry's appearance that day that he had managed to deliver the pizza on time, avoiding getting fired and losing that hard-won part-time job. Deep down, he was still very grateful to Jerry.
But no matter how much he thought about it afterward, he could not figure out how Jerry had instantly rescued the two children that day, then made the pizza he had delivered appear in his own hands. That was completely unscientific.
"Is that so? Maybe it's because I'm a magician, and you've seen one of my performances."
Seeing Peter's embarrassment, Jerry stopped teasing him and gave him an out at just the right moment. Then he held out his hand in a friendly manner.
"Hello, Jerry Carmen. You can call me Jerry."
"Right, Jerry. I've seen your magic before. It was incredible. I'm Peter Parker."
Peter hurriedly reached out and shook Jerry's hand.
Everything suddenly made sense to him.
