Classification
Void Beasts with lord-level strength are classified by the quality of their Demonic Aether. Their known hierarchy is Soldier-class, General-class, King-class, Ghost Grade, Dragon-class, God-class, and World-Destroying-class 29.
- Soldier-class — Can be defeated by a magical girl with reasonable combat skill. 29
- General-class — Requires a magical girl with substantial battle experience. 29
- King-class — Normally demands a party of at least three experienced magical girls. 29
- Ghost Grade — Possesses rudimentary intelligence and may employ a weak rudimentary domain; ancient-species Ghost Grade beasts can rival ordinary Dragon-class creatures. 63 128 180
- Dragon-class — Can wield a Proto-Domain, possesses significantly greater intelligence, and may undergo multiple Evolutions. 63 175 216
- God-class — Can possess a complete domain; a God-class Insect Demon God required two Ultimate Magical Girls to defeat. 63 318
- World-Destroying-class — The highest listed rank. 29
Biology
Demonic Aether Physiology
Void Beasts are living aggregates of Demonic Aether. Their bodies are inherently hostile to ordinary life and can contaminate the Void World around them. 17 70
- Their Demonic Aether can be consumed by other Void Beasts without loss, allowing the consumer to heal or strengthen itself. 70 308
- Destroyed bodies often become black fluid, which nearby Void Beasts can absorb. 70 127
- Burning corpses to ash prevents surviving beasts from using them as nourishment. 205
- Dense Demonic Aether drives Void Beasts into a frenzy and can draw underground populations to the surface. 173
Feeding and Regeneration
Void Beasts readily consume their own kind, treating wounded or dead allies as resources rather than losses.
- A Ghost Grade beast healed a chest wound by crushing and consuming General-class Void Beasts. 71
- General-class beasts that fed on King-class remains gained opportunities to evolve. 70
- Nest-born Ghost-Tier beasts can absorb the liquid remains of their offspring to accelerate their growth. 128
- Some varieties possess extreme regeneration; the Humanoid Void Beast can recover even after being cut in half. 139
Reproduction and Nests
Void Beasts can reproduce through eggs, with Nest environments serving as breeding grounds and underground transit networks. 127
- The Ghost Grade Void Spider maintained cocoons containing eggs and weakened while laying them. 29 127
- In one Nest, egg-hatched infants rapidly grew to Ghost Grade by absorbing black liquid from the ground. 127
- Infant Void Beasts dissolve into black water after death, allowing other Nest inhabitants to absorb them. 127
- Nests suppress available magical power, while sustained combat favors Void Beasts because their dead reinforce surviving allies. 128
- Defeating a Nest's final boss causes the Nest to disappear. 310
Origin Cores
Peak Dragon-class Void Beasts can separate an immobile Origin Core containing their soul. A new body can be born from the core, allowing revival after the destruction of the main body. 219 233
- A Void Beast may have only one active main body and one Origin Core at a time. 219
- The Origin Core must remain intact for the Void Beast to truly survive bodily destruction. 219 233
Appearance
Void Beasts have no single fixed form. Most are black or dark-colored creatures saturated with Demonic Aether, but their shapes range from animals and insects to dragons, dinosaurs, and humanoids. 69 87 128 310
- Animal-like forms include wolves, dogs, spiders, gorillas, condors, octopuses, bears, elephants, lizards, wyverns, and serpents. 17 29 44 71 86 134 145
- Ancient-species forms such as tyrannosaurs and stegosaurus-like dragons are markedly stronger than modern-species counterparts. 128 134 175
- Humanoid forms can resemble humans closely enough to conceal their identity, despite carrying an icy and evil magical presence. 135
- Other-world forms mimic the local creatures and magical beasts of the world they inhabit, such as the barbed, multi-eyed Arrow Rat. 310
- Dragon-class individuals can become enormous fantasy-like creatures with scales, wings, horns, and specialized body structures. 87 175 215
Intelligence and Behavior
Lower-ranked Void Beasts generally act on instinct, while Ghost Grade and higher entities display increasing intelligence, planning, and adaptability. 71 87
- General- and King-class creatures typically advance and attack by instinct. 71
- Ghost Grade creatures can assess danger, preserve themselves, use weaker allies as expendable forces, and coordinate limited tactics. 71 128
- Dragon-class creatures can speak human language, understand body language, and possess emotions comparable to those of animals such as monkeys or dolphins. 87 216
- Exceptional Dragon-class individuals, such as Pride, demonstrate human-like speech and tactical awareness. 215 216
- Command-type Proto-Domains allow a Dragon-class Void Beast to direct large groups, turning otherwise disorganized swarms into coordinated forces. 170 371
- Void Beasts are instinctively drawn to powerful or unusual Aether sources, including Ando Meiko's Destiny Body and the Mount Fuji ritual's evil energy. 71 160
Abilities & Traits
Evolution
Void Beasts evolve by accumulating and consuming Demonic Aether, especially from other Void Beasts. 70 71
- Consumption can restore injuries, increase physical size, and raise rank. 70 71
- Evolution may occur rapidly during large-scale beast tides or in resource-rich Nests. 71 128
- Artificial energy sources, including the Mount Fuji Magic Array's black beam, can forcibly trigger evolution. 161
- Higher Evolution stages among Dragon-class Void Beasts substantially increase their combat power. 175 177
Domain Prototypes
Dragon-class Void Beasts can use incomplete domains, called Proto-Domains or Domain Prototypes, which affect only themselves rather than a large area. 63
- Their effects vary widely, including defense, control, command, lightning attacks, and object transformation. 170 175 195
- A Void Earth Dragon used Object Transformation to create defensive shields and bind opponents. 195
- The Void Sword Dragon used a lightning-based Proto-Domain through the spines along its back. 175
- Command-type Proto-Domains can coordinate armies across a battlefield. 170 371
- Only God-class Void Beasts can possess full domains. 63
Adaptation and Imitation
Some Void Beasts can alter or imitate forms and abilities.
- The Ghost-Tier Void Tyrannosaur reassembled its scattered body parts and changed from a sludge-like mass into a bipedal tyrannosaur. 128
- The Humanoid Void Beast could imitate Armament Magic and replicate some magical abilities, but could not copy Advancement Magic or form shifts. 136 171
- Void Beasts in other worlds imitate local beasts and magical beasts, adapting their forms to their environment. 310
Mental Interference
Certain intelligent or specialized Void Beasts possess mental or sensory attacks.
- The Humanoid Void Beast uses a gray aura to lock onto targets and briefly daze them. 136
- A Void Two-Headed Lion can unleash a mental attack through the collision of its two roars. 372
- Humanoid Void Beasts may disrupt minds, imitate combat methods, and heal from otherwise fatal wounds. 139
Notable Void Beasts

- Void Gorilla — A recurring opponent that evolved into Dragon-class and later reached Second Evolution before Ando Meiko finally defeated it. 111 210
- Void Lizard — A Dragon-class, lava-colored subterranean lizard with volcano-like humps; it was taken away by Voidwalker after its battle with Ando Meiko. 145 150
- Ghost General — A Humanoid Void Beast capable of regeneration, magical imitation, cloning, and absorbing Demonic Aether from fallen Void Beasts. 171 196 205
- Void Sword Dragon — A 68-meter Dragon-class creature at the peak of Second Evolution; its horn was a weakness, while its spine generated destructive purple lightning. 175 176
- Pride — The first-ranked of the seven strongest Dragon-Tier Void Beasts, known as the Wings of Death and Evil. 215
- Wrath — The third-ranked of the seven strongest Dragon-Tier Void Beasts. 215
- First Demon King — A Peak Dragon-class Void Beast that fused with the remains of a True Dragon and the First Demon King, later reaching God-class through the Law of Death. 340
History
Void Beasts existed as early as Japan's Edo period, when they were known as demons and magical girls were called demon-slaying ninjas. 65
They traditionally remained underground or within the Void World, but disturbances to the Void Seal and Dragon Vein caused Demonic Aether to surge outward. The resulting contamination drove Void Beasts into frenzied surface attacks, creating Nests around the world. 173 180
During the Mount Fuji incident, a Magic Array sacrificed a Void Lizard and countless other Void Beasts to fuel a ritual intended to create an Evil God vessel. The ritual's power attracted a massive Void Beast Tide and forcibly evolved multiple individuals. 160 161
Void Beasts also appeared in another world through the Ravine Nest. There, their forms adapted to local magical beasts, and the First Demon King was revealed as an extraterrestrial Peak Dragon-class Void Beast that had infiltrated the world's history. 310 340
