Jie Jian had originally been rather cautious, keeping his movements small for fear of waking anyone.

As his laughter spread, the prisoner in the cell beside Jie Jian groggily woke from the pile of hay.

He raised his eyes and glared toward Jie Jian in the darkness.

"What the hell is that noise? Why are you laughing in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"

But when he saw the scene before him clearly, he instantly snapped awake.

"Huh?! Aren't you a prisoner? Why aren't you wearing shackles?!"

His cry instantly woke the surrounding prisoners.

One prisoner woke up and muttered groggily:

"No shackles? Is that for real?"

But when he saw Jie Jian, he instantly became fully awake as well.

"Holy shit! He really doesn't have shackles!"

More and more prisoners were awakened by the commotion.

Someone rubbed his eyes and stared hard in Jie Jian's direction, then shuddered.

A cry of alarm exploded through the corridor, and the entire row of cells came alive.

The previously lifeless prison was instantly filled with a barrage of shouts.

"He got out! Someone got out!"

"Brother! How'd you get them off? How'd you get them off?!"

"Help me! Please! Get mine off too!"

Pairs of emaciated hands gripped the iron bars and shook them desperately, producing harsh metallic clanging.

Everyone shouted at Jie Jian, utterly unconcerned that their voices might draw Kaido's guards.

Jie Jian clasped his hands behind his back and grinned like a master.

"Don't panic, brothers. This is exactly why I'm here!"

What was the point of escaping alone? The moment Jie Jian freed himself, he had already decided what to do next.
