A massive figure reclined against an enormous throne, holding a sake gourd and taking a drink from it now and then.

He was none other than the governor of the Beasts Pirates, Kaido!

At Kaido's side, King was speaking to him at length.

"Kaido, the one causing trouble at the port this time is a guy named Jie Jian."

"He destroyed several of our ships and attacked our men. By the usual rules, he should be killed."

"But..."

King paused there. Seeing that Kaido showed no anger, he continued.

"I think we can spare his life."

Kaido's expression did not change in the slightest.

He took another drink, then let out a vague "Oh" from his throat.

King hurriedly explained.

"I fought him before. That guy has a solid foundation in hand-to-hand combat, and he uses his Devil Fruit ability well. He's talented."

"And despite causing trouble at the port all night, he barely hurt anyone. He only destroyed a few of our ships."

"Though he isn't a Zoan user, we're short on manpower right now. It'd be a pity to kill him just like that."

Kaido finally set down his sake gourd.

He burped, then glanced at King with half-lidded eyes.

"Oh? There aren't many people you praise like this."

"He really is interesting." King nodded. "That's why I threw him into Udon Quarry. I wanted to recruit him into the Beasts Pirates!"

Kaido waved a hand and said indifferently.

"Since you say so, do as you wish. Give him a chance to join the Beasts Pirates."

King raised his head, a flash of delight passing through his eyes.

"Thank you, Kaido!"

He stood and turned
