Assassinating Maki?
Meanwhile, Maki was processing the news brought by the Akuta.
In another location, Naoya followed Jinichi and Ogi to their destination.
This is in front of a long-abandoned Japanese-style house. Most of the paint on the door has peeled off, making it look like no one has been here for many years.
Shen Yi entered the room first, and after confirming that there was nothing amiss inside, he nodded to the two people behind him.
Fan followed closely behind, Naoya went in last, closing the door behind him.
The interior was so sparsely furnished it was almost desolate. The windows were covered from the inside with thick newspapers, and only a few rays of light squeezed in through the cracks.
"This place suits you two quite well," Naoya said, glancing around with his usual sarcasm. "It matches your current state of being kicked out."
Fan's face darkened, and he was about to speak when Shen raised his hand to stop him.
"Alright, let's get down to business."
Shen sat down cross-legged, gesturing for Naoya to sit as well.
Shan leaned against the window, arms crossed, staring gloomily outside.
"Alright, let's get down to business." Naoya casually sat down, tilting his head to look at the two of them. "What did you mean by ' Maki is dead'?"
Although the Jujutsu Society is decadent and ancient, many basic rules still need to be followed.
Maki has now become the head of the family. If they rashly attack Maki, they are likely to be labeled as "Curse User".
He's not like Satoru Gojo; he can't challenge the entire Jujutsu Society single-handedly.
Once Naoya becomes a "Curse User," he won't be able to return to the Zenin Clan as head of the household, let alone stay in the Jujutsu Society.
Shen Yi did not answer immediately, but instead took out a piece of paper from his pocket and spread it on the low table.
That's a simplified diagram of the internal personnel movement within the Zenin Clan over the past few days.
Several names were circled in red pen, and densely packed small characters were written next to them.
"After Maki became the head of the family, she purged the entire Zenin Clan."
Shen Yi's finger slowly moved along the red line on the picture.
"Bing and Qu Juliu were kicked out of the team for opposing her, and my and Shan's direct followers were almost completely wiped out."
Those who remain at the Zenin Clan now are either her people or opportunists who change their allegiance depending on the wind.
"So?" Naoya raised an eyebrow. "I already knew that, you don't need to repeat it."
"Let me finish." Shen glanced at him.
"Maki seems to have completely taken control of the Zenin Clan now, but this is only temporary."
The reason she was able to maintain her position as head of the family was because no one dared to challenge her directly.
But what if she dies?
Naoya squinted his eyes.
The fan turned around from the window and took over the conversation, his voice very low:
"The Culling Game, have you heard of it?"
"That battle royale game that Kenjaku organized?" Naoya frowned. "What does it have to do with me? I'm not planning to participate."
Naoya couldn't be bothered with something as dangerous and pointless as the Culling Game" phenomenon.
"Of course you're not going back," Fan sneered. "But Maki is going. Not only is she going, she's also volunteering to go inside the Barrier to deliver information to the people at the Jujutsu High."
"Heavenly Restriction's body is indeed incredibly strong; even without Cursed Energy, she can freely move between Barrier, but that doesn't mean she's immortal."
Shen Yi added from the side.
One of the rules of the Culling Game is that "Player can attack each other and gain points by taking each other's lives."
In other words, if Maki enters the Barrier and is killed by the Player inside, it would be perfectly reasonable.
Naoya remained silent for a moment, his fingers unconsciously tapping his knee.
"... You want to assassinate her in the Culling Game?"
"Not just Maki," Fan's voice held a chilling hatred, "But also Mai."
A hint of surprise flashed in Naoya's eyes.
Fan's expression remained completely unchanged, as if he were talking about someone unrelated to him.
"Mai now inseparable from Maki. Given their relationship, Maki has very likely already secretly chosen Mai as a candidate for the next head of the family."
"If Mai still alive, even if Maki is dead, the position of head of the family has nothing to do with you."
"And Fushiguro too!" Shen Yi added from the side.
"That guy Fushiguro has ' Ten Shadows Technique '. I heard that the old patriarch originally planned to pass the patriarchship to Fushiguro."
Fushiguro and Maki are classmates; it's possible that Maki also sees Fushiguro as a candidate for head of the family.
The words "Fushiguro" made Naoya frown.
"Some nobody from out of town, not even from Zenin, what makes him think he can become the head of the Zenin Clan!"
But in just a moment, Naoya returned to his original form, looking at Jinichi and Sen with a playful tone.
"Why do you think I'd help you? I may have a grudge against Maki, but I have no reason to associate with two homeless dogs like you?"
Fan's face darkened, but Shen Yi raised his hand to stop him.
"Naoya, you've got one thing wrong." Shinichi looked at him calmly.
"We are not asking you for help; we are giving you a chance, a chance to take back the Zenin Clan."
After Maki dies, the position of head of the family will be vacant. Both Origami and I have been removed from the family register by Maki and are not eligible to inherit.
But you are different. You are a direct descendant of the Zenin Clan, Special Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer. As long as Maki is gone, you will be the most qualified person to become the head of the family.
Naoya remained silent.
He tilted his head, as if he was seriously considering it.
Shen Yi continued:
"You don't need to lift a finger. You just need to tell us Maki's whereabouts at the right time. The rest, Ougi and I will handle."
"You two?" Naoya scoffed. "You two alone? You think you can defeat Heavenly Restriction?"
Naoya had initially thought these two people had come to ask him to assassinate Maki, but to his surprise, they didn't need him!
But Naoya didn't believe that Shinichi and Ogi could defeat Maki.
He had personally tested Maki's strength, and even if Naoya and Origami, whom he had always looked down upon.
Shen Yi wasn't angry; he even nodded.
"That's right, neither I nor Ougi are a match for Maki."
"But when did we say we would take action ourselves?"
"Are you looking for an assassin?" Naoya frowned slightly.
There are many unaffiliated Jujutsu Sorcerer in the Jujutsu Society who do not usually follow the orders of the Jujutsu Headquarters.
They don't usually perform Cursed Spirit; instead, they earn money by taking on shady jobs.
Just like the former "Heavenly Restriction" Toji Zenin.
He made his money by assassinating Jujutsu Sorcerer, and was even dubbed the Sorcerer Killer" because of his high efficiency.
Naoya thought about it carefully in his mind, and couldn't help but curse:
"Are you all out of your minds? Among those wild Curse User outside, who could possibly be a match for Maki?"
Although Naoya didn't want to admit it, he knew that Maki at this moment definitely possessed Special Grade combat power.
Assassinating someone like that requires at least Special Grade Sorcerer.
There are very few Special Grade Sorcerer in the entire Jujutsu Society, so it's impossible for Shen Yi and his group to find someone capable of assassinating Maki!
Faced with Naoya's questioning, Jinichi was not in a hurry.
"Who says there's no one in the world who can defeat Maki?"
He looked calmly at Naoya.
"Naoya, have you forgotten that ' Suguru Geto ' resurrected many ancient Jujutsu Sorcerer within the Barrier of the Culling Game?"
