The Fake JARVIS

Iron Man said, "The body is finished. We're working on the question of consciousness."

"If this were an ordinary robot, we could just put a CPU and memory chips inside it."

"But there'd be nothing new about that, and its future potential would be limited by that hardware."

"Its body is unusual, a fusion of living tissue and machinery. But only with genuine, independent consciousness could he be considered truly alive."

"We've spent a long time studying how to turn an AI program into consciousness."

"Consciousness is on a far higher level than an AI program. With it, he could learn, grow, and think like a person."

Apocalypse asked, "Is it difficult?"

Helen rolled her eyes at Apocalypse. "There's no precedent anywhere in science for turning AI into consciousness. If we succeed, it'll be as significant as my Regeneration Cradle technology."

In the original timeline, Vision's birth had depended on the Mind Stone in his forehead.

Iron Man had also uploaded his AI butler JARVIS's program into the body.

But even that hadn't been enough.

Later, Thor had acted as a giant battery, striking the Regeneration Cradle with a bolt of lightning.

Only then had Vision come to life.

Too many parts of that process could never be replicated.

For one thing, no one could make another robot with an Infinity Stone, let alone reproduce the other coincidences.

Iron Man said, "We're about to try activating him for the first time by uploading JARVIS's program into his brain. Then you arrived, Tang."

"You might get to witness the birth of a new life."

Vision was destined to become an immensely powerful superhero.

There was nothing wrong with choosing JARVIS's program. Iron Man had surely written rules into it requiring loyalty to him and to humanity.

But that was probably nowhere
