Meeting the Watchers

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Watchers had only made a fleeting appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, with little explanation.

But in the comics, there was quite a bit of information about their origins.

The Watchers were one of the oldest known races in the universe.

It was said that they had appeared before the universe was formed, and their technology was billions of years ahead of that of most races in the universe.

As for their individual strength, they could stand in space with their physical bodies alone. Clearly, they possessed divinity; even at their weakest, they could not have been weak by much.

The Watchers lived up to their name.

They recorded everything that happened in the universe, yet adhered to one principle—"Do not interfere with any developments."

But principles were principles.

When they encountered situations they could not stay out of, they would still fight fiercely.

In the comics, there were many records of them taking action, and many of them had been killed by other supervillains.

It was said that they had even fought a billion-year war against the Celestials, with neither side emerging victorious.

The strength of their race was plain to see!

The Watchers had been born before the universe, while the Celestials were among the first cosmic beings after its formation.

It was hardly surprising that the two sides clashed over dominion of the universe.

What was strange was that after fighting a war for nearly a billion years, the Watchers had suddenly changed their minds and established the principle of "non-interference in all things."

They had ultimately reconciled with the Celestials.

Thus, the Celestials busied themselves creating stars throughout the universe, creating living planets, and nurturing new Celestials.
