Apocalypse saw that Hulk had yet to arrive, so he decided to earn some healing potions while he had the chance.
He quietly moved ahead of Abomination. Wherever Abomination smashed through, Apocalypse took away the pedestrians in front of him.
Many pedestrians had no time to flee. Just as they were drowning in despair, everything flashed before their eyes, and they found themselves suspended in midair. By the time they landed, they were already more than a dozen blocks away.
Some people were still foolishly waiting inside their cars because of the traffic jam, unaware that danger was approaching.
Apocalypse did not waste words. With a tug, he tore the entire car door off. Seat belts were like cotton candy before him, snapping apart with a pull.
Ignoring the screams from inside, he dragged them out and took them away.
"Ding!" "Ding!" "Ding!" "Saved one life. Reward: 1 healing potion."
A string of notifications rang out in his mind.
Meanwhile, General Ross, Doctor Banner, and Elizabeth noticed Apocalypse through the helicopter's monitors.
"Dad, it looks like a superpowered person is saving people. Is he with the military?"
General Ross shook his head. "The image is blurry, but I can vaguely tell he's Asian. We don't have anyone like that."
Watching Apocalypse on the monitor continuously carry people away like an ant moving house, Elizabeth could not help feeling touched.
Doctor Banner said, "General, this can't go on. That mysterious man's abilities are limited. He can only move people a dozen blocks away. If that giant isn't dealt with, something terrible will happen sooner or later."
Everyone had seen Hulk leap before. He could cross several mountain ranges in a single jump, so they naturally assumed Apocalypse's strength was far inferior to Hulk's.
What they did not know was that Apocalypse simply had not fully mastered his power yet and did not dare jump recklessly.
Banner said, "Let me do it."
Elizabeth hurriedly said, "You just injected the antidote. You can't transform. Don't go back there to die."
Banner said, "I can't watch innocent people die because of me."
With that, he leaped from more than a hundred meters in the air, spread his limbs, and fell backward!
At that moment, the rampaging Abomination finally noticed Apocalypse and growled, "Annoying flea!"
He casually threw a small car at him, but Apocalypse easily dodged it.
Abomination grew even angrier. The little flea actually dared evade his attack!
"Boom boom boom..."
Like a prehistoric beast, Abomination charged toward Apocalypse. Every car in his path was crushed into an iron pancake beneath his feet.
Just then, with a smack, a human-shaped object fell from the sky and landed right between Abomination and Apocalypse.
It was Doctor Banner, still untransformed!
Abomination froze. What kind of move was this? Was he trying to crush himself to death in a suicide attack?
Curiously, Abomination stared at the mangled "corpse" on the ground and sniffed it, but could not detect anything unusual.
After watching for a while, he lost interest and stepped over Banner's "corpse" to continue his pursuit.
Who would have thought that the moment he stepped past, a huge green hand rose from the ground? "Your opponent... is me!"
Doctor Banner transformed—Hulk had appeared!
"Boom..."
Hulk grabbed Abomination's foot and hurled him to the ground, smashing out a massive crater.
Abomination lay in the crater. Rather than getting angry, he laughed and roared, "Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Now this is more like it! I've been waiting for you for a long time!"
"Boom!"
The two monsters collided.
The resulting shockwave affected even the helicopter a hundred meters in the air, making it sway unsteadily as its instruments continuously sounded warnings.
"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"
"Wonderful! This is power! This is what a proper opponent looks like! Ha! Ha! Ha! Come again!"
Hulk said, "You... talk too much!"
The two humanoid monsters fought fiercely through the streets. The surrounding buildings seemed to be made of paper and collapsed wherever they passed.
Countless craters were blasted into the ground. Even underground pipes were ripped apart, sending water shooting more than a dozen meters into the air.
Watching the battle, Apocalypse instinctively glanced down at himself and shook his head with a bitter smile.
He had finally learned the secret behind Hulk's pants firsthand.
In his previous life, people often joked about Hulk's pants. No matter how he transformed or fought, they never fell off. They were known as one of Marvel's ten greatest unsolved mysteries.
But in the real world, there was no such thing. That setting existed only for the sake of screen censorship.
Before transforming, Doctor Banner really had bought a pair of loose boxer shorts.
But how could ordinary fabric possibly withstand a battle involving such monstrous strength?
The green mass swinging beneath Hulk's crotch made Apocalypse understand exactly how Thor had felt when he saw naked Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok.
That image would be burned into his mind for the rest of his life, impossible to erase.
In contrast, Abomination was not wearing clothes either, but there was nothing below him—just a smooth, bare patch.
It seemed to have been absorbed during the mutation.
So that was the price—the price of forced mutation.
Abomination and Hulk had no real techniques. They simply relied on endless brute strength to hammer each other.
Hulk occasionally picked up cars, using them either as shields or weapons.
Abomination ignored everything. His massive fists kept colliding as he wildly squandered the power he had just gained!
Every punch was like a shell, and the massive bursts of air echoed throughout the city.
The more punches Abomination threw, the more grotesque the spine on his back became, like a living bone dragon about to burst from his body.
"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat..."
Suddenly, countless bullets poured down from the sky, firing at Abomination and Hulk.
Unfortunately, bullets capable of tearing an ordinary person in half were as powerless as toy guns against Abomination and Hulk.
"Asian guy, what are you standing around for? Run!" Elizabeth's voice came from the sky.
Apocalypse smiled. "Thank you, but don't worry about me. Leave quickly."
"Humph... flies!"
Abomination shielded his eyes with one hand and casually ripped a lamppost from the ground.
With a sweep of his enormous arm, the lamppost whistled toward the helicopter.
"NO!!!" Hulk roared and lunged at the lamppost.
But he was too late. His hand brushed past the tail end of the lamppost, and his girlfriend was about to die!
"Smack!"
Less than three meters from the helicopter, the lamppost was stopped by a slender hand. It was Apocalypse.
"How is that possible?!"
Elizabeth and General Ross, father and daughter, could not believe their eyes.
The lamppost had been traveling at nearly the speed of sound. Its force was immense, no weaker than a cannon shell, yet it had been stopped by one hand and could not advance another inch.
General Ross's pupils constricted.
He had hunted Hulk for years and knew better than anyone how terrifying such strength and speed were!
"Ding! Saved 5 lives. Reward: 5 healing potions."
Apocalypse smiled at Elizabeth. "You should move farther away. Bullets won't work on them."
With that, he dropped from the air.
In the original plot, the helicopter had lowered its altitude to help Hulk and used a Gatling gun to attack Abomination. Abomination then dragged it down, destroying the helicopter and killing everyone aboard.
Of the five people on the helicopter, only Elizabeth and General Ross had survived.
Unexpectedly, Apocalypse's arrival had changed the plot, yet the helicopter had still come to join the battle.
Character determined actions!
Everyone had their own behavioral inertia, and General Ross was no exception.
"Pull up! Pull up!" General Ross came to his senses and shouted urgently.
Seeing that Elizabeth was safe, Hulk relaxed for a moment and was driven back step by step by Abomination.
In the original plot, Banner had returned to stop Abomination because he wanted to protect ordinary people, but he still could not defeat him. Only when Elizabeth was about to be killed by Abomination did he unleash his potential and choke him unconscious.
The angrier Hulk became, the stronger he became!
But now, the civilians had been moved away by Apocalypse, and his girlfriend's crisis had also been resolved as she retreated in time.
Hulk had instead lost the motivation to fight desperately.
"You two have fought enough. It's my turn now," Apocalypse said.
Abomination turned around and bared his jagged white teeth at him. "Ha! Ha! Ha!... You're qualified!"
From dozens of meters away, he threw a punch at Apocalypse.
His body followed his fist, suddenly accelerating. By the time his punch reached its point of greatest force, he had arrived right before Apocalypse.
Apocalypse neither dodged nor retreated. He extended his palm to meet it head-on.
"BOOM!!"
Fist and palm collided like an exploding shell, and the shockwave sent the surrounding cars flying!
The concrete beneath Abomination and Apocalypse's feet cracked for dozens of meters.
Compared to Abomination's fist, Apocalypse's palm was as small as a baby's. Yet Abomination's massive fist could not advance even an inch.
Apocalypse gauged the force. If this was Abomination's full strength, then he was at least three times stronger.
He had injected more than ten times as much refined, high-concentration blood as Abomination, but strength did not increase one-to-one. It was a little less than expected.
If General Ross knew what Apocalypse was thinking, he would probably roll his eyes regardless of his dignity.
Abomination was slightly stronger than Hulk, while Apocalypse was three times stronger than him, and he still thought it was too little?
Apocalypse swept his hand toward Abomination and Hulk. "Both of you, come at me together."
