Background

Tita was orphaned after her mother died early and her father—a soldier and Zhou Yun's elder brother—was killed during Consul Conor's campaign against the Elyrium barbarians. Her father left behind compensation money and his nine-year-old daughter, who came under her uncle's care. 5

After Zhou Yun legally becomes a debt slave, Tita brings him to the Grammar Academy so Cicero cannot lure him away. She urges him to pursue the House Guilliman tutoring position, which could provide a way out of their financial crisis. 6
