The great tent was utterly silent; even the wind had stilled. Only the king's fury remained, like a banked thundercloud, revealing a deep and terrifying power. The silence lasted for quite a while before the guard captain Ekat lowered his head and softly advised him.
"Family head, please calm your anger! These two rumors should be someone deliberately sowing discord between you and the king."
"I know."
Xolotl's face was expressionless as he slowly nodded. The anger on his face subsided slightly, but the killing intent in his eyes grew even stronger.
"The first rumor is belittling the central royal authority, belittling King Avet, and secretly sowing discord between me and Avet. The second rumor is even more vicious. It means to create discord between me and Avet, to take the hidden contradiction between the Lake Kingdom and the royal center and, in the form of a prophecy, lay it openly before everyone!"
At this point, Xolotl gritted his teeth, the fury in his heart burning straight up.
If the first rumor was merely catching wind and clutching at shadows, stirring up a few bits of hearsay, then the second rumor was openly proclaiming there were two suns in the sky. This sort of hidden contradiction had originally been confined to the upper ranks of the Alliance and could be reconciled through political means. But now the spreader's purpose was to trigger a conflict between him and Avet, even to provoke civil war within the Alliance!
"Their hearts deserve execution! Fabricating rumors, sowing discord. Those damned great nobles of the Alliance!"
Xolotl reined in his anger, pondered for a moment, and then fixed the origin of the rumors on the great nobles of the Alliance. Beside him, the guard captain Ekat opened his mouth as if wanting to say something.
