Hatake Sakumo destroyed the Execution Platform and freed Ace, allowing him to reunite with Luffy on the ice. As Whitebeard’s side celebrated, Sengoku transformed into a giant golden Buddha and launched a shock wave at the brothers.

• Luffy unconsciously released Conqueror's Haki, but the executioners continued their swing toward Ace.
• Hatake Sakumo raced through the air and cut the Execution Platform apart with a lightning-infused slash.
• Sakumo unlocked Ace’s Seastone Handcuffs, and Ace regained his powers and landed beside Luffy.
• Ace and Luffy reunited on the ice as the Whitebeard Pirates cheered and Garp secretly celebrated Ace’s rescue.
• Sengoku transformed into a giant golden Buddha and attacked Ace and Luffy with a powerful shock wave.

Whitebeard, restored to his peak, met Sengoku’s Buddha-form shock wave with a Conqueror’s Haki-infused strike and sent him crashing into Marineford. The Tremor-Tremor Fruit’s force shattered more than half the harbor fortress, while Sengoku rose again from the crater in fury.

• Sengoku attacked Ace and Luffy with a full-power golden shock wave, but Whitebeard leapt in to confront him.
• Whitebeard clashed with Sengoku using Murakumogiri, Armament Haki, Conqueror’s Haki, and the Tremor-Tremor Fruit’s power.
• Whitebeard’s strike overwhelmed Sengoku and sent him crashing into a deep crater beside Marine Headquarters.

Qian Ye’s assault team helped Whitebeard’s pirates escape Marineford by defeating Akainu’s advance, breaking the offshore ice blockade, and opening a passage to sea. After the pirates fled, the team withdrew through the Light Gate, leaving Akainu and the Marines behind.

• Bullet met Akainu’s Canine Red Lotus head-on and blasted him backward, while Qian Ye sent Hatake Sakumo to break the Marine encirclement.
• Qian Ye called on Zhao Hai, whose heavy cannons fired explosive-tag shells that shattered Kuzan’s offshore ice blockade and opened a channel to the sea.

Marshall D. Teach watched Whitebeard devastate Marineford and abandoned his plan to steal the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. He claimed he had always wanted Golden Lion Shiki’s Float-Float Fruit and led his battered crew into retreat as the Whitebeard Pirates withdrew.

• Teach and the Impel Down escapees hid near the ruins, stunned as Whitebeard overpowered Sengoku and the Marines.
• Heavy Drinker Vasco Shot asked whether the crew should still attack Whitebeard, and Teach concealed his fear to keep his crew from losing faith in him.
• Teach claimed the Tremor-Tremor Fruit was unimpressive and said he had always wanted Golden Lion Shiki’s Float-Float Fruit instead.
• Teach ordered his crew to retreat rather than face Whitebeard, Qian Ye, and the others.
• As the Whitebeard Pirates fired a farewell salute and withdrew, Teach cursed the monsters who had ruined his plan and led his crew away through Marineford.

After the Marineford battle, Sengoku punished Zhao Hai for the artillery incident but refused Akainu’s demand to imprison him. Zhao Hai then left under orders to patrol offshore and secretly steered his ship into the Calm Belt to meet Qian Ye and the others.

• Akainu accused Zhao Hai of deliberately using the heavy artillery to help Whitebeard and Ace escape, but Zhao Hai blamed faulty experimental ammunition and Akainu’s position in the firing line.
• Garp defended Zhao Hai and threatened to fight Akainu, while Sengoku ended the confrontation and stripped Zhao Hai of artillery command, assigning him to three months of offshore patrol duty.
• Zhao Hai received Qian Ye’s message that Whitebeard, Ace, and Blackbeard had escaped and that the Mutual Aid Group had arranged a rendezvous in the Calm Belt.
• Zhao Hai boarded his personal warship, ordered his crew to extinguish the lights and silence their communications, then secretly turned away from the assigned patrol route.

He ordered the South District camp into lockdown after ANBU spies detected their unusual power, and the spies rushed to report to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

After Ace vouched for him, Zhao Hai entered the cavern to discuss Qian Ye’s business with Whitebeard, who was approaching.

• Marco spotted Zhao Hai’s unflagged warship and warned the Whitebeard Pirates that it was approaching their reef.
• Jozu attacked Zhao Hai, but Zhao Hai met his diamond fist head-on and forced him backward without moving.
• Zhao Hai identified himself and said he had come to bring help, but Vista and Jozu remained suspicious until Ace recognized him as the Marine who had opened their escape route from Marineford.
• Zhao Hai explained that his Special Detonation Shells had cleared the route and that Sengoku had punished him for the bombardment, and Marco apologized for the pirates’ hostility.
• Zhao Hai said he needed to discuss business entrusted to him by Qian Ye, and Marco invited him into the cavern to meet Whitebeard.

Zhao Hai demonstrated the power of his medicine, Seastone technology, and chakra to Whitebeard, then revealed the alliance’s plan to overturn the old world order. Whitebeard cleared the cavern so they could speak privately, and Zhao Hai marked Mary Geoise on a sea chart as their target.
