After completing the request to find "Little Black," the Owlcat,
Cui Ciyou and his three companions returned to the Adventurers' Guild in Old Kishirisu City to report their success and collect their reward of one Scrap Iron Coin.
After learning about adventurer ranks, rules, privileges, and obligations,
Cui Ciyou's goals became much clearer-earn money and raise his adventurer rank as quickly as possible.
He stood before the enormous quest board plastered with request parchments of every color. His gaze skipped straight past the F-rank section at the bottom as he carefully examined the E-rank requests a little higher up.
(F-rank adventurer parties could only accept E- and F-rank requests!)
According to guild regulations, F, E, and D ranks were low-ranking adventurers. They mainly earned Stone Coins and Scrap Iron Coins; even an occasional Iron Coin was considered pretty good.
Only after reaching the middle ranks, C or B, could adventurers consistently accept requests that paid in Iron Coins or even Green Ore Coins. That was when they truly began earning a steady, substantial income.
As for A and S ranks, those were the true high-ranking adventurers-the people at the very top of the profession.
Cui Ciyou quickly worked things out in his head.
We're F-rank right now. Once we finish nine more E-rank quests, we can advance to E-rank.
We should at least reach the middle ranks first! That way, we'll earn more!
Let's get to E-rank today!

(High-ranking adventurers: S, A. Mid-ranking adventurers: B, C. Low-ranking adventurers: D, E, F.)
(Adventurers may only accept requests at their own rank, one rank above, or one rank below!)
(However, high-ranking adventurers cannot accept mid- or low-rank requests-to protect the interests of mid- and low-ranking adventurers!)
"Hey, Ciyou! How about this one?"
